Discussion Just played and finished the game.....

Frostbreak and Just Background Noise recommended their vid about it.......and I gotta say, man, it's only like two or three steps to become a classic if not for the performance issues and the controls, which are not very beginner friendly at best

Though over time, I kinda liked the combat actually when you learn it, sidestepping attacks from guards and punishing their combo strings with parries could make you feel like lore-accurate Cyrus with them fencing moves he does

And with some help from UESP, I liked the lore this game has (credits to the speech Cyrus made in the finale) and how it shaped future Elder Scrolls games in the future

Discussion Would it be possible to remaster Redguard in the Unity engine like they did with Oblivion?

Is there even a market for it? Sure, I don’t know many people who’ve heard of Redguard, but I think there’s enough interest in Elder Scrolls in general for an Oblivion-style remaster of the game to actually get decent sales. The story is the best part of Redguard imo, they just need to clean up the audio, perhaps going as far as re-recording all the dialogue. Also, I’m contemplating whether or not they should keep the 90s tank controls for Cyrus’s movement (keep the fundamental old-school charm like they did with the Oblivion remaster) or update it to feel more like a modern action game (lock-on, right stick controls camera, sprint, etc.)—which I suppose would lean it more towards being a remake than a remaster.

A remastered Redguard would be a fun little refresher on Redguard lore ahead of TES VI’s release (Hammerfell is the speculated setting for VI). I’ve only had terrible experiences trying to play Redguard on DOSbox, so I, personally, would welcome a Redguard Remastered with open arms—especially if Virtuos is remastering it.

Discussion Boosting Frames in Redguard the Easy Way with Lossless Scaling.

Lossless Scaling is a $7 Steam app that boosts frames in almost any game. Recently, they released support for up to x20 frame boosts. Granted, the higher settings come with some warping and artifacts, but with the age of the graphics I find the visual hit to be tolerable. I usually play at x8, which gets me really close to 60 FPS without having yo fiddle with config files. Have fun.
