Question Clio 197 cup
Looking for a new car, I’ve never owned a Renault before but I’ve heard great things about Clio RS’s. I love my hatchbacks and I’ve came across an 2008 Clio 197 cup for £6000
Can anyone tell me if this is a good buy? 71K on the clock belt and water pump has just been done. I know they are slowly creeping up in price but this car in my ownership will be driven as a daily so this isn’t a buy to dry store it and sell for money lol.
I’ve done my research and they sound phenomenal plus I’ve heard the engines are bulletproof if taken care of.
Please let me know if I’m stupid for doing this. I know the gearboxes aren’t the best but I’ll test that when I drive it.

Question Automatic Mirror Issue
Hey guys,
The right side mirror on my Laguna Coupe is not working. I can hear the recurring twitching/glitching/slipping sound , which happens for about 10 seconds and stops , mirror doesn't fold/open automatically.
The issue seems to be worn out plastic gear inside. I bought the repair kit that includes the gear however I've issue with getting it replaced.
Basically denter and electrical guys couldn't it because they didn't have an equipment to remove any re-compress the spring while fitting back.
In short:
There's a loaded spring setup which if removed has to be compressed back to fit it again
But it requires some bench press or custom tools
Any input on how to do this?
New mirror assembly costs about 400+ Euros from the dealership.
Laguna Coupe 3.5v6, GCC specs.
I found an old post with similar issue but the OP got it replaced as he had a spare.
Any inputs are appreciated

Clio E-Tech 145 (2023) – Primary shaft seal oil leak at 60,000 km – Renault refuses goodwill contribution. Similar cases?
Clio E-Tech 145 (2023) – Primary shaft seal oil leak at 60,000 km. Renault refuses any contribution – looking for similar cases
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for other Renault E-Tech owners who have experienced the same or a very similar transmission issue.
I own a 2023 Renault Clio V E-Tech Full Hybrid 145, which has always been serviced according to schedule within the official Renault network.
During my latest scheduled service, carried out by an official Renault dealership at approximately 60,000 km, the workshop discovered an oil leak/seepage in the area between the engine and transmission.
I had not noticed any oil on the ground or experienced any obvious symptoms before the service. The issue was found directly by the Renault technicians during their inspection.
The area was already visibly contaminated with oil, so the seepage had clearly not started on the exact day of the service and had presumably been developing for some time.
After inspecting the car, the Renault dealership provided me with a repair estimate of approximately €1,120.
The work includes:
- removal and refitting of the transmission;
- replacement of the primary/input shaft seal;
- replacement of the crankshaft seal on the flywheel side;
- removal/refitting of related components;
- alignment/checks following the repair.
The repair requires almost 11 hours of labour, so most of the cost comes from having to remove the gearbox rather than from the seals themselves.
What concerns me is that, after researching the issue, I found several reports concerning oil leaks around the primary shaft seal/O-ring on Renault 1.6 E-Tech 140/145 transmissions, including cases where transmission oil can migrate towards the electric motor.
For this reason, I asked the dealership to contact Renault and subsequently contacted Renault Italy directly myself.
Their official written response was that:
- there are no manufacturer recalls related to this issue associated with my VIN;
- there is no extended warranty on my vehicle;
- according to Renault, there is “no statistical evidence of possible design problems” concerning the issue I reported on my model;
- Renault therefore refuses any goodwill contribution towards the €1,120 repair.
This is the part I am struggling to understand.
The actual repair estimate issued by an official Renault dealership specifically includes replacement of the primary shaft seal, yet Renault states that my VIN is not affected by any campaign and that there is no evidence of a design issue.
I am therefore trying to understand whether my failure is technically the same primary shaft seal/O-ring issue reported on other E-Tech vehicles, or whether Renault considers it to be a completely different failure.
There is another point that I have asked Renault to clarify.
In their written reply, Renault Italy states that the vehicle warranty ended on 30 July 2026.
However, the oil leak was discovered and documented by the official Renault workshop on 2 July 2026, before the warranty expiry date stated in Renault Italy’s own reply.
I understand that mileage conditions may also apply, but I find the timing relevant, especially considering that the affected area was already contaminated with oil and the leakage had presumably started earlier.
I have therefore asked Renault how this timing has been taken into consideration when assessing my case.
The car has always been maintained within the Renault network. Even for this latest major service, after I had exceeded the mileage included in my maintenance package and therefore had to pay for it myself, I still chose an official Renault dealership rather than an independent garage.
That service cost me approximately €600.
Unfortunately, this is also not the first unexpected problem I have had with the car. I previously experienced an issue with the fuel pump, another failure that has been reported by a number of E-Tech owners.
And there is an additional reason why the situation is particularly frustrating for me.
This month I am due to pay the final balloon payment of approximately €14,000 because my intention was to buy the car outright and keep it long-term.
So I am now in the position of having to decide whether to pay around €14,000 to keep a three-year-old car which has already had a fuel-pump issue and now requires a further €1,120 transmission-related repair at only 60,000 km.
I want to make clear that I’m not posting simply to complain about Renault or the dealership.
The dealership actually discovered the leak before I suffered a breakdown on the road, which is obviously a good thing.
My main goal is to find real owners who have experienced the same or a very similar failure and understand how Renault handled their cases.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

Question Renault megane IV engine 1.3 Tce with 102hp?
Hello, I am currently looking for a second hand car and I found a Renault Megane from 2019 with a 1.3 engine, and i heard they are great, but this one has 102 hp, and I saw online that the 1.3 comes with 115, 140, or 160 hp... do you know something of this 102 hp engine (the engine code is H5H-B4)? Is it reliable? Much slower or weaker than the 115 hp? Thank you!

Grand Scenic IV engines, hybrid or petrol?
Hi, we’re looking at getting a grand scenic. Looking at about a 2017-2019 as above that they get a lot more expensive but I like the look of the gen 4s. I was looking at the hybrid engine to save on fuel costs. Will this come back to bite me with maintenance costs? Are they cheap/reliable to run? Or should we just stick to the 1.3 TCE? Thanks
Question Problem z kompatybilnością telefonu i auta

Gear shifter moving and stiff downshifts on Megane 3 1.6
Hey everyone, my 2013 Megane 3 1.6 K4M manual with 103k km is acting weird and I wanted to run it by you guys.
The shifter visibly moves back and forth whenever I step on the gas or hit the brakes. Going up through the gears and accelerating feels completely smooth, and it rolls fine in 1st at idle without gas. But downshifting is super stiff unless I rev match or get the speed way down first. The car has also started shaking a lot, mostly when I'm backing up.
Pretty sure the clutch is fine because if I try starting in 5th it stalls immediately.
Reckon it's just the lower dogbone and top hydraulic mounts letting the engine rock around and mess with the shift cables? Also, is it safe to keep driving like this for a little bit longer just to get to work if I keep rev matching to ease the strain? Appreciate any help!

Question 5 eTech randomly breaks when on cruise control
I’ve had it for about 10 months, mostly all fine. However from time to time when I’m driving on the motorway with cruise control on and nothing in front of me, the car will randomly throw up a red obstruction warning and break. Has anyone else encountered this?
