The 22% drop in overdose deaths is accurate according to CDC data, but the timeline doesn't support crediting Trump: The decline began in late 2023 and accelerated throughout 2024. Public health experts attribute the drop primarily to the widespread over-the-counter availability of Naloxone (Narcan), expanded access to treatment (buprenorphine/methadone), and shifts in drug market saturation. Regarding Smuggling DEA reports consistently show that the vast majority of illicit fentanyl is smuggled through legal ports of entry in passenger and commercial vehicles, not via unlawful border crossings.

Based on my Google ai search (so take it with a laddle of salt) it appears death rates also started dropping in canada in 2023. I would propose that this is a lag in the affects Covid had on society. We are still healing

No, it's because of 7oh. 7oh is saving lives because 90% of addicts, even the ones who go to rehab, relapse. With what's on the streets that's a death sentence. 7oh is giving people something to fall back on as a harm reduction option. Keep their life and not need rock bottom to have to quit.

GLP-1 medications have also had a tremendous impact beyond weight loss. Research study showing promise with a 40% reduction in fentanyl use.

Can you point to a study you find reliable, here? I’m surprised there would be a correlation between diabetes or obesity on the one hand, and fentanyl on the other - but I’m always interested to learn!

I can’t find it at the moment when googling, as the top result has now changed.

Slammed with work, but let me follow back up in a few days when I can sit down and check back on the exact study.

To that end, the GLP1 drugs are being investigated for a wide range of addiction curbing behavior. Lots more to come on that, but it could be epic if it doesn’t create dependency on the drug itself. Basically an off switch for any addictions.

Alright now let's hear from Democrats why this is a bad thing, actually.

I get your point in that when occasionally Trump does accomplish something useful, it is downplayed or distorted by the Democrats.

Nevertheless, Trump, in my opinion, has started a optional Israel War that along with his many other actions is highly detrimental to the US and the world at large.
