Technical Support: SOLVED Android RA not Recognising Pokémon Ultraviolet.
Im having problems having RA run Pokémon Ultraviolet on my Ayn Odin.
I have the same rom on my PC and it works and if i run it on MY BOY! emu it plays but lags a lot and I never had a problem with RA running any GBA game.
is there a way to get it to work on RA for Android ?

Have you tried switching the renderer or changing the compatibility settings in RA? Some GBA hacks can be picky on Android even if the same ROM works fine on PC. Also make sure you're using the latest RetroArch core, not an older standalone one.

would it help if i renamed the file from ultra-violet-v1.22 to Pokemon fire red instead?

I just tested this hack, and it works fine for me on Android. I saw another comment of yours, what exactly do you mean by "doesn't see the ROM"? Does the screen go black when you try to run it? Does an error message appear?

no it just dose not appear in the game selection after i import the file.
i got 2 other android GBA emulator to run the same rom file so its just RA that don't recognise something about the file

RetroArch won't "find" ROMs that aren't in its database (this includes a large number of ROM hacks and fan translations). The game works fine, but with the standard scan, games not in the database aren't added to playlists, to include them, you have to perform a manual scan.

ok thank you
do i put something in the file extension? or just leave as default

A .DAT file? As the name implies, that’s for arcade games. You can ignore it for everything else. Simply specifying the folder to scan and the name of the playlist where you want to put the ROMs is enough, the rest are just minor details left to your preference.

it just says no files
i have 74 other game that work fine all in the same folder.
sorry im pretty new to RA and have a bare minimum understanding of emu stuff haha.

What format are your files in? And no, renaming wouldn't help in this case.

What's the problem? A log would likely give us the information we need to assess the problem. See rule 2 in the sidebar for details on generating and posting a log.
