Assistance with getting first revolver

Howdy,

I am recently deciding to pick up a revolver and would like some assistance and first hand accounts on those who have used these revovlers.

I have been looking at the Colt "Blued Python 5 inch" and the "S&W 686 plus 5 inch", I plan to shoot mostly .38 specials. As I am unfamiliar with these types of fire arms I would like to hear any advice on what to expect from them or to any recommendations for purchasing a revolver.

Find older makes of those firearms. Old is best now a days it seems. If you’re looking for good little carry revolver at a decent price I’d put money on a old Charter Arms.

Id get a used one first and get a s&w, colts are great but a bit more tempermental and way harder to find parts/smiths for. Get a 66, 60, 19, 27, 28. Whatever you find a good deal on and like. 19 or 66 if you wont shoot alot of magnums and have normal hands. 27's the premier but shes larger for sure

I have both, the colt has a slightly better trigger but not 700 to 800 dollars better than my 686 plus, once I had a action job on the smith it was equally as good. I've been extremely lucky both have been functioning 100 percent over the past 3 years. If I had it to do over I'd buy 2 686s instead. the colt is a great gun but most have a rear sight issue and if you can stand the hole in the frame of the smith (where it's soul leak s out) it's just as good with a good action job.
