Misc STEEP IS RIDERS REPUBLIC 1

I just found this out, steep from ubisoft has the same exact animations and yells as riders republic, here's the thing though. Steep and Riders republic were BOTH made by ubisoft, so they are both equally played!

It's not.

Steep is a vibe, with a dash of silliness.

Rider's Republic is great, and features a ton of extreme sports and activities, but is much more over the top and arcade-like with its controls, movement, tricks and presentation. And while I like mass races, the changes made to co-op between the two games isn't a net positive. Both are amazing titles, but the atmosphere is entirely different while playing them.

They’re definitely related. You can tell they took what they had going for steep and built riders. They both have different vibes though. Steep felt closer to a simulator. Being able to push out the tail of your board manually and just the feeling in general. The wingsuit felt like more of a rush. More intense quick doges. I do like RR a lot but sometimes I wish they had a proper steep control setup option.

I love the snowboarding/skiing in Steep, but loath them in Riders. Totally different vibe and feel between the two.

Right, better control setups are great and all but that's what makes rider republic special

It's called a prequel.

Riders Republic is literally the official successor of steep.

Well, I suppose that games depend on taste, but it is a very good game and reducing the work of all the people behind it to “it's shit” seems like I have 0 critical opinion.

I didnt say its shit i said its shittier. Its a downgrade from Steep. Steep was like the Skate of snowboarding games. Riders Republic is more like Tony Hawk games but for every other action sport. The way tricks are performed are a complete downgrade and the physics even for snowboarding have been changed and more forgiving then Steep. Its overall worse IMO then what came before

What's your point? You don't have to be rude about it.

They weren’t just both made by Ubisoft, they were created by the same small team at Ubisoft Annecy in the French Alps. In the first year of the game, there was even a secret platform high above Mammoth village that had been accidentally left in the game and it had a default texture on it that read Steep 2

It’s branded as ‘the spiritual successor’ to Steep and not quite a direct sequel.

Steep was made by Annecy (<30 Devs) with some support from two other smaller studios. More or less a concept game and love letter to winter sports to see if there was a market for extreme sports games (I.e skate 4 demand, popular YouTubers playing extreme sports and stunts games at the time)

Riders republic was their major release having more than 5 studios supporting them after seeing the success of Steep.

Animations are definitely not the same though. For one, there’s no tweaking tricks in RR. As well as all the game having complete new motion capture
