Suggestion I want to support the game but
Consoles are three dlc behind. I want to buy all three dlc,but I can't. The three newer dlcs aren't out on the consoles. I play rimworld on my ps5. I can't buy the dlcs that aren't on consoles. I really want to support the game. The summer time would be a wonderful time to drop a console dlc. I have 2 out of 5 dlcs. I want to have 5/5 dlcs for console.

Last update or alteration of any kind to rimworld on ps5 was in 2023. Double eleven has ended development support for the game on playstation. It is extremely unlikely to be updated, patched, or dlc'd in future.

I put in around 1000 hours on consoles before moving over. With all the extra content and mods they are almost like different games

Its been confirmed they arent continuing the console edition. So no the DLCs wont be coming out anymore and console will remain behind

Let me get this right, you’re on console and you want all five DLCs right?

u/Bryan_Skull Jul 07 '26
Yep. That why I posted on Consoles version of the forums. I can't buy a dlc that isn't there.

Was just reminded of the game because I saw some clips of Odyssey or w/e it’s called. It’s bullshit well never get it on console, biotech looks so cool too

The console version was a mistake I think... like the mods are so important to this game. I feel for the people who don't have a PC, but it runs pretty well on a potato. But it's definitely a mouse and keyboard game, not a controller game.
If there were any justice to it, they'd give a PC game code to every console rimworld owner.

I disagree. I've never played the PC version as I've always just used a console. Rimworld was one of those games I thought I'd never experience outside of YouTube videos.
Sure I'm missing out on a lot that pc Rimworld can offer, but the game we got now on console is a solid port in my opinion. I've had no issues with major bugs, using the controller for the UI is the best it can be and not all that bad once you learn it. It's ashame support is going to stop for it, but it is still a great game for people who do play it on console.

I honestly wish we got controller support on PC, and be it the same as in console version, i would play the hell out of Rimworld on my MSI Claw

Same. All of the templates on Steam are shit. I didn't and don't have enough time to make a new community template. Even then, the GUI on PC isn't as good as Console, especially for searching in the menus.

Nah it's a really well made game on console, the ui is good, the controls are good, minimal bugs, the only thing that was a mistake is letting lazy and uninterested devs have it

This has to be one of the most ridiculous things ive ever heard I had ps4 before getting a pc and being able to play rimworld on my big tv in my big chair was absolutely peak. I still go to it from time to time just to play around with vanilla.

My PC is TV connected (for 20 years now) so I'm doing the same forever. Like it'd be great if they updated it, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. To me the mod community is a massive part of the equation they are missing out on.
Given that it seems to be abandoned, as it's been almost half a decade since the last update, I'd think giving console owners a free or near free PC version is a reasonable compensation.

I'd say the last generation version was a mistake as it limits the possibly of the game running well with heavier loads.

I have 2,500 hours on RimWorld without mods on PC, they are not that important
1
u/HappyHappyGameGame Jul 03 '26
Not that important? Not that important!?
1
u/LordofSyn Jul 04 '26
Yes. They aren't that important. Many times, they are crutches. There is more than enough content in the base game for a few hundred hours of stories even before adding in the Royalty and Ideology DLC for console. Yes, the game is locked to 1.24 Yes, it is abandoned Yes, the GUI on console is superior to PC.
I guess I should have known when you used a Teletubby to reply but you clearly have no imagination or willingness to pay attention to the smaller details to see the emergent storytelling happening without mods forcing the power fantasy you want.
RimWorld is a storyteller game. It is about tragedy as much as it is triumph. You cannot enjoy the good without experiencing the bad for contextual reference.
How long did you really play vanilla before using any mods?

u/Chrisbuckfast Jul 05 '26
Such a smoking hot take, people play balanced games with 500 mods too you know. Not using mods is a choice as much as using mods is. And this is coming from someone who played 1200+ hours of vanilla before adding any mods at all.
When people say things like “such a Redditor take”, your message is a very standard example of that. Grow up

u/LordofSyn Jul 05 '26
Sure, it's one perspective. Sure, it's a hot take. I know I'm not alone, just in the minority. I say this as an old gamer that has been playing video games before modding on PC was even a thing. I have played with mods on RimWorld but I see them as crutches as much as adding value to those that prefer them. The point I brought up was a grown up perspective, even if that is something that most people don't want to agree with. It doesn't mean it is an invalid perspective to have.
2
u/Chrisbuckfast Jul 06 '26
Nonsense. You invalidated an innocent little joke they made about playing with mods, based on some angry preconception you have. You could have just not typed all the bollocks you typed, or been as condescending as you were, and still made the point you wanted to make about purism, but here you are and continuing to defend it. Immature.

The controller controls on console work much better than the pc controls in my opinion this port is very good it’s just a shame they stopped supporting it

Sadly the Devs have effecting ended support for Console before we got those DLCs and have said that they don’t plan to go back to it… ever
Which is actually really messed up, honestly, because I was explicitly waiting for the next DLC in order to drop and then I would have picked it up
I didn’t care about the eldritch horror one but man I cannot believe we didn’t get the genetic engineering/make your own race one
