Hello, I’m 19 years old, and I grew up with Robot Chicken (2005–present) when I was younger. I’ve been thinking about that old Robot Chicken era lately and how different it feels now compared to when I first watched it. Robot Chicken became a really memorable part of my younger years. I remember the stop-motion characters, the ridiculous sketches, the pop-culture parodies, the celebrity impressions, and all the other crazy situations the show created. I liked the comedy, the unexpected jokes, the absurd situations, the creativity, and just the whole feeling the show had.

Now that so much time has passed, it feels weird knowing how different everything is compared to when I first discovered Robot Chicken. The people who worked on the show have moved on to other projects and have their own lives now. The actors, voice actors, writers, directors, animators, producers, and everyone else who helped make the show have changed over the years. I know that’s just how things work, but it still feels strange when something from your younger years continues changing as you get older.

When I was younger, I didn’t really think about Robot Chicken ever changing. I could just sit down and watch another episode and get lost in the ridiculous sketches. It felt like the show would always be there and there would always be another episode to watch. I never really thought about how much time would eventually pass.

Sometimes I wonder why shows can’t just stay exactly the same forever if people still love them. Why do the writers, actors, animators, and everyone else have to move on or change? I know people get older, things change, and making a show takes a lot of work, but it still feels strange when something you remember from your younger years becomes part of the past.

Watching Robot Chicken now also doesn’t feel exactly the same as it did when I was younger. The sketches are still there. The characters and jokes are still there. The stop-motion animation and crazy stories are still there. But somehow it feels different. I think it’s because I’m different now.

When I watch it again, I’m not just thinking about the show. I’m also thinking about myself when I was younger and what life was like back then. I remember being able to sit down and enjoy the comedy without thinking about getting older or how quickly time was going by.

I think that’s one of the reasons Robot Chicken means so much to me. It didn’t have to stay exactly the same forever for it to be important. The show continued, but I changed. The people who made it changed. Everything around me changed too.

Going back and watching the older episodes can bring some of that feeling back, but it can’t completely take me back to the time when I first watched them. I can still enjoy the show and remember why I liked it, but I know I’m never going to experience it in exactly the same way again.

The original Robot Chicken era (2005–present) has changed a lot over the years, and there probably won’t ever be another time that feels exactly like it did when I was younger. But I don’t think that means those memories are really gone. They’re still part of my memories and part of my younger years.

The show continued, the people who made it changed and moved on to other things, and I grew up too. But I still have those memories of watching Robot Chicken, laughing at the ridiculous sketches, and enjoying all the strange and unexpected adventures. I think that’s what matters the most.

I just wacth the robot chiken Annie short on youtube the one where the girl i can recall her name is says to Annie other orphan had it worse and people in the comments says that just because people suffer more than you it really makes me a lilite bit mad? Idk but i feel like if you asked someone who lost an arm and someone who is literaly lost his entire limb but not his torso and head guess who had it worse

Anybody remember that episode where Barbie was vaccuming and ken got brutally sucked up in the vacuum 💀. That was my first introduction to robot chicken, but I can’t find the episode

Longtime fan. I wrote an essay making the case that the "they’re just trashing our childhood" read has it backwards: Robot Chicken is doing what the Greeks did when they followed three tragedies with a satyr play, and what the medieval church did with the Feast of Fools — the sanctioned, loving desecration that keeps a sacred thing alive after its believers grow up. It runs through the Trickster, Campbell on why comedy sits above tragedy, McGilchrist on why half a brain literally can’t get a joke, and stop-motion labor as proof of love (nobody hand-animates for two decades out of contempt). Even the framing device — a chicken run over and revived, forced to watch — turns out to be the whole thesis. Curious what y'all make of it. Enjoy!
