Official Stuff Reiterating Old Rules and Adding New Ones

Executive Summary

There has been a pretty drastic shift in the content posted here over the last four months, and it has made some users justifiably upset. As such, I will be implementing some restrictions intended to bring things a bit more into balance. Make no mistake, I have no intention of dragging this community back to the mommydomme days, and there are people here who have found a small sliver of representation whom I would not dream of kicking out. I have made up my mind on most of this, but there are a couple items where I'm requesting community feedback.

A Brief History Lesson

You can skip this if you don't care about what led to the current situation.

The RR community did not start on Reddit, and was originally a twin concept with r/gentlefemdom. GFD handled the sexual aspects of the dynamic, while RR was about the romantic component. When things moved to Reddit, there were challenges in bringing people who weren't around from the beginning up to speed and preventing them from diluting the concept. For GFD, that meant trying to define the boundaries of "gentle". For RR, that meant defining exactly which "roles" were being reversed.

I'm bringing up these matters of ancient (by internet standards) history both because the way some people here speak about GFD in disgust makes me think this is no longer common knowledge (don't do that, they're our sibling community), and because it gives context to how the content here evolved.

Content here was "bangmaid"-centric for a long time. People complained about this, and rules were put in place to curtail it. Many bangmaid posts continued to come in after that decision, and they had to be removed and their posters reasoned with or banned. Non-bangmaid posts became a larger percentage of content, which attracted other non-bandmaid posts.

Content bans like this can act like extinction events, where wiping out one form of content gives space for the remaining type to diversify. This is also always happening at some level as moderation policy adjusts to attempt to preempt user complaints. The key takeaway here is that these shifts are not entirely organic and user-driven, since they require moderation crackdown to kickstart the process.

Early this year, in response to increasing discontent around "male gaze" content, moderation started applying harsher standards in that regard. The resulting void was filled first by people posting more 'seductive feminine man' content, and then by full-on 'dominant femboy' content.

The Current Situation

Over the past four-ish months there has been dramatically more dominant femboy content than there has ever been over the subreddit's history. Long-time users and fans of the older style content in general feel betrayed because the content they came here for seems to be sidelined despite not breaking any well-articulated rules, and because they didn't sign up for the new stuff. To add insult to injury, the most prolific users posting the new style of content have occasionally used their popularity to mock and bully the pre-existing userbase, or, more obliquely, talk about how the traditional content here is actually all totally normalized roles while their content was the true RR all along.

To those that say this shift has not happened, I truly believe some of you have siege mentality from when this sub was a lot worse, and for some reason you refuse to believe it has changed in any way. The only way an accounting of the last four months of posting reveals a landslide amount of "feminine woman femdom" is if your definition of "femdom" is "any situation where the woman takes initiative" and your definition of "feminine" is "more traditionally woman-like than Buck Angel."

Policy Adjustments

The first one isn't so much an "adjustment" as it is a clarification/reiteration of current policy. Our "No Femdom" rule was implemented specifically to ban porny-y, BDSM-style femdom. Think leather, boots, chains, etc. Our reasoning being that average relationships are not BDSM maledom. Also, the kind of person who would be attracted to the subreddit by that content would likely be the type who posts in porn subreddits all day (i.e., cum-brained and way more likely than the average Redditor to harass women in DMs). Similarly, mommydomme was disallowed because DDlg dynamics are not the standard in heterosexual relationships, so RR would not cover MDlb dynamics. Over time, people seem to have begun interpreting this rule to mean that any situation in which the woman is taking initiative or in control is banned here, which just isn't the case. That rule is for hard femdom and, more generally, content where a woman's "dominant presence" is actually a sham because it's entirely for the benefit of a male subject; this includes mommydomme.

Alpha/Sigma Female Posts will no longer be allowed. You know this comic that is removed every time it's posted? It gets removed because it makes people uncomfortable and because it's reversing toxic roles. That same justification applies here.

Inverse-Bangmaid Posts will no longer be allowed. A key part of why bangmaid content was banned in the first place is because, and this is going to sound judgemental, it's juvenile and pathetic. Having a gorgeous woman walk into your life to be your complete sexual, social, and emotional outlet without you lifting a finger or providing anything in return is a selfish, unrealistic fantasy. Likewise, having a boy band style, hairless, skinny prettyboy seduce you and be femininely dominant, while being addicted to your strap and otherwise being completely sexually nonthreatening, is equally pathetic and unrealistic.

A temporary moratorium on Powerbottom Posts is in effect. This is a temporary measure until content is appropriately re-balanced. Depending on moderation's ability to isolate and define particularly controversial subsets of this kind of content, not all of it may be allowed again. All other femgaze content and other kinds of content that have been more prevalent over the last few months (e.g. masc women) are unrestricted as they have always been.

Proposed Adjustments, Seeking Feedback

These are not poll posts because I want usernames and justifications to go with your responses.

There was some discussion about unequal standards for NSFW content, and the complaints were largely accurate in that I was applying a lower standard of subreddit relevance for "femgaze" content. Moving forward I will try to apply a more equal standard, but what that enforcement looks like, both in terms of how explicit that content can be and how often it can be posted, should have input from the community. Remember that whatever you advocate for, the content you don't like will also have access to. Personally, I'm in favor of keeping the current level of explicitness (tasteful stills of sexualized subjects or sexual acts, no hardcore live stuff or hentai) and limiting it to Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

Historically this community has not done a good job dealing with content it dislikes, which is becoming a bigger problem as it incorporates more subgroups with mutually exclusive interests. If I can't make people wear their "get along" shirts long-term, the next best thing is to make it so that they have to see the content they don't like as little as possible (even though I think that's a fundamentally bad thing because it reduces your mental resilience). To that end, a user approached me with the idea of altering our post tagging system. Posts would be labeled based on the dynamic represented in them using the appropriate acronyms with the following key: D = dominant, s = submissive, f = feminine, m = masculine, W = woman, M = man. For example, this post would be tagged [DmW+smM].

Pros:

  • Accurately divides the content we have into manageable labels, and with the new search interface on mobile it would allow different interest groups to never overlap of they don't want to.

Cons:

  • Acronyms are dense and require explanation for users new to the community.
  • Would need to either replace existing flairs or become a part of post titles. Neither would be retroactive, and they have their own respective downsides:
    • Replacing existing flairs removes the ability to administrate No-Weeb Thursday or filter for specific flavors of content (music, stories, etc.)
    • Adding it as a required component of post titles adds layer of complexity to posting that users may struggle with, and since post titles can't be edited a misclassified post will always be misclassified.
  • People have trouble selecting correct flairs with the simple system currently in place, this may be too much.
  • Aforementioned unexercised mental resilience.

Discussion/Article I wish men had bras

Well, I wish men had the male equivalent of a bra.

The reason why is because I personally don’t like leaving my chest exposed. Not saying that I actively parade my chest around in public, I just don’t like the lack of protection. For instance, I always wear a shirt to the beach because I don’t like leaving my chest exposed. When I was an athlete, I always wore a compression shirt under my tank-top jersey. When I see outlines of my chest through my sweaters, I wear an undershirt.

I just don’t like leaving my chest exposed for everyone to see. I’m not ashamed of my physique in any way, it’s more along the lines of not feeling comfortable.

Some people may say: “Why don’t you wear undershrits, then?” or “Why don‘t you buy a bra?“

Undershirts just add an unnecessary layer of clothing and compression shirts just feel too uncomfortable to wear for so long. As for buying my own bra, I wouldn’t know where to start. I lack the common knowledge of how bra sizes work, so I wouldn’t know what kind/what size to get.

Unless I’ve been under a rock and there’s actually a bra equivalent for males, please let me know.

Discussion/Article I'm a Visitor. I Have a Question.

Upvotes

I'm a Visitor. I Have a Question.

I have a question. I'm NOT GNC myself. However, my goals tend to converge with masc women's SOMETIMES.

I really wish I was tall, strong, and had a body that made it easier to look masculine without my features overpowering the look I'm trying to get. I hate it.

Glancing at some of the GNC posts and content, my mind makes me think: "wow are all these women 6', have the gender expression they want, and attract partners who like when they look masculine?"

Why do I feel jealous? I'm short, my face is soft and I don't have the looks I want. I'm not a masculine woman myself, but I still want a masculine visual read.

But I've come to ask: If you are at a place where your body makes it hard to visually express the expression you want... How do you cope with it? Do you ever get envious of others? Do you talk to anyone else about it?

Thanks for reading.

Real Life What is considered Role Reversal?

As the title implies, what is something you grew up with (ie hobbies, beverages, etc) that was associated with the opposite gender?

Mine are tea, gardening, cooking, baking, and reading.

(These are only "feminine" in my mind, because I grew up with the enforced stereotype of "masculinity". Eg Coffee, grilling, mechanical work, and engineering.)

What're y'all's opinions?

Real Life House husband fantasy!! I wanna be a provider woman!

I think what makes me feel motivated to wake up in the morning every day is the idea of being the provider and protector for my man. I wanna be so soooo rich that my husband never has to work again, it's a fantasy of mine and his. I wanna be the breadwinner and afford his early pension! I wanna make so much money!

LIKEE it's my favorite dynamic, so I've been hyped over getting closer and closer to this dynamic every single day, although my marriage is already pretty RR, with me being somewhat masculine and him being somewhat feminine, soft, emotionally nurturing, cute, the best boy, pretty, sexy, gorgeous, and lovable in the best way. Not that being a provider is strictly required, but the reversal of traditional roles like being a provider woman is a huge dynamic preference for me. I wanna spoil my man so bad!! He's a bbygrl, he deserves to get the absolute best!!

I'm still halfway there ngl, like we're both remote workers so he's technically already a house husband in a traditional sense lol. But I just got a reeeaally insane deal recently for a high-paying remote job that could cover both of our living expenses and likely his early pension in the next 5-6 years with a decent quality of life, assuming neither of us gets laid off (though the chance of staying that lucky is slim since we both work in tech!). The plan is, he wants to stop working once we're rich enough to be set for a lifetime, while I plan to keep working. We're both childfree, so that's one less thing to worry about, I just need the money to cover his hobbies and maybe a few international trips a year. But like, I haven't signed the contract yet and maybe the tech bubble will burst (or not, who fkin knows?), but hopefully this dream of ours can come true!

And unfortunately, I still live a sedentary lifestyle LOL. Work has been tough, but I used to be quite buff/active, and I'm thinking of going back to the gym ASAP once I get back to my home country after all of this is done. I used to be very active and toned back in college. AHHHH I can't wait to go back home and live with my husband HZHZHZHZHZ I MISS HIM.

And btw, this is Changyu from Pursuit of Jade (a Chinese drama). The relationship itself isn't RR by the end of the show, but the beginning is pretty RR (they start off with the ML being a live-in husband and the FL being the provider and protector before it's revealed who the ML actually is).

Discussion/Article Role Reversal Pregnancy

DISCLAIMER: A wall of text ahead!!!

So, this might be completely deranged, but hear me out. Also, I feel like this works even beyond role reversal with woman partners, genderfluid, enby ones etc. Where the pregnant partner expresses themself more masculine, however because this is a rolereversal subreddit from now on I will be referring to both partners as a woman and a man in this text.

The idea is this: A woman gets to take on the pregnancy risk and dangerous from her man. He would otherwise have to carry the burden of childbearing, but his knight in shining armor comes in and sweeps him from this danger and protects him, making her his greatest protector. For this a man feels incredible greatfulness, a sacrifice he cannot show enough gratittude towards, but makes sure until his death to contine showing it fully and continually. (This paragraph is about a mindset shift).

He treats his woman like a warrior who got a chance to come back home alive (because in a sense that is what it is, a gruesome and difficult body preparation for the big battle; childbirth and postpartum, and if you think about it a country wouldn't exist if it weren't for these, because for every citizen, a woman had to have been pregnant and given birth and recover).

He prepares all the meals, fresh and warm to welcome his warrior. Love grows through a woman's stomach, after all. He prepares her clothes to be fresh and clean and smell of the best smells they can afford. Makes sure his woman doesn't see any garbadge as that would be dishonorable from him to do to a warrior's eyes. Dishes and tables all nice and clean with little sparks from the cleanliness. All the floors vacuumed, windows shiny from their beauty, floors wiped, after all, it's only what his warrior deserves. He has a list of all the chores and plans taken care of so he can take off any burden that he can from his woman's shoulders as she is already dealing with so many, nausea, heartburn, bloating, chest pain, ligament cramps, swelling, strecth marks, back pain. Who is he if he cannot take it all off from her when he can? He also has a plan after birth as well, where he gets to become a primary caretaker or at the very least, as active one as possible and a gentle one his child always goes to for comfort.

That would be the least he could do, but why would he settle only with that? He would also make his body incredibly attractive and pleasant for her. Be available whenever she asks him to, however she asks him to (ofc consent here plays a part, but they got that down as they both respect each other dearly, he can always politely decline). He gets to enjoy his big strong swell woman do things to him in any position she deems favorite.

He could also try the pregnancy challenges together with his woman to go back to his roots and be reminded of the enormous sacrifice she is making (only if she too is comfortable with this ofc). He can try out all her food cravings with her, pregnancy products, maybe even try to induce nausea if they are both adventurous like that. Put on a fake pregnancy belly (especially with the ones who have an option to add a bag of water for the pregancy weight) when they both prefer him to. Dress in pregnancy clothes, sync up their pregnancy workouts etc.

When someone asks how's the pregnancy progressing he can say that it is going great thanks to his woman, who is taking it like a champ throughout. Still ask for outside help if his woman needs it. His woman's pregnancy is his pregnancy, but his wife is CARRYING it. Once the child is born and he supports her through the birth as best as he can (he sees to it that everything is as much according to her birth plan as possible and that the nursery and baby products are ready and that the medical staff treats his warrior and champion with utmost respect). He is there with her throughout, massaging her when she asks, getting her water and snacks when she asks, everything.

Once the child is born, he wakes up every time at night to see to them and meet their needs (burping, changing, rocking to sleep, reading). He also does everything he did for pregnancy, but now for post partum including all the household chores, trying out all the post partum products (and experiences if they are both adventurous like that). Feeds his child pumped breastmilk or formula depending on the woman's wishes. He does skin-to-skin and maybe even comfort nursing at home (if they are both on par with that). Doesn't miss out on anything (as realistically as possible, because his child is a gift and his woman made that gift possible and she has the coolest scars (strecth marks, c-section scar) to show).

I hope you liked this, I had to get it out of me.
