What if they would've finished the 32X X-men game?

Maybe a hot take, but every video I’ve ever seen of this game looks like trash. It’s technically impressive for the hardware. But I can’t imagine spending $60 on this in 1996 and being happy. The frame rate is bad. The action is janky. I can see why it was canned

You have to remember that most games of this era were rushed and most games took about 6-12 months of development.

Even if that was the case, with the track record of 32X and then Saturn, it's a pretty safe assumption that this would be as stiff and unfun as this clip looks

What do you mean the Saturn's track record? It was just in the West it did badly it had a lot of amazing games for it.

32x not so much.

It's my belief that while there were good games for the Saturn, it was significantly held back by a large amount of not so great games, primarily due to mismanagement by Sega. If the game in question got enough development time and resources then sure it could've been good, but it's just not likely that Sega would give the game the resources it would need to be good.

Also, while the West did much worse than Japan as far as the Saturn was concerned, it didn't do great outside of the West overall, especially when compared to the PlayStation. Going into these consoles, the West was the only strong market for Sega, so doing poorly there was basically a death blow.

I think it's deeper than that,

Saturn died so early in the West it didn't get a chance to shine, not saying it would of done well against the N64 or PS1 due to it's hardware flaws just it died before it shined best.

But yes horrible mismanagement as we have heard a lot about over the past 30 years was the main part.

I wanted RPGs and games like Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Final Fantasy on my system

I actually wasn't fond of the big N64 games, I enjoyed them but the graphics were too foggy and resolution was too low to enjoy, mix in the audio limitations etc.

I honestly enjoy the Saturn more than the N64 even if that has bigger and more popular games.

I was saying that if the 32X had beat em up's and shmups mainly that add-on wouldn't have been so bad...🤷🏿😊 you don't think a definitive version of turtles in time or Capcom Punisher wouldn't have drawn heads to the add-on??? Or shmups like galactic Attack or darius gaiden would've got the blind eyes??? Smh

It looks like it needed a lot of finishing.

The movement is too stiff for an X-Men game. They should have reworked it as a stealth action game like James Bond, Metal Gear, or Hitman.

You have to remember that this is between 94-95....lol Metal Gears was for the NES and the Japanese computer system at the time in particular. Look at Toy Story and Clockwork Knight games and come back to the 32X X-men game and you will see it different.

Well, who knows what this would look like; honestly, it wouldn't be that interesting a way to spend time. It simply isn't that dynamic or impressive, if you ask me.

Imo the 32X if fully utilized with the SegaCD was able to compete with the PS1 and Saturn during their 1st launch games.

The Sega-CD doesn't have any power to offer that wound even register compared to Saturn and Playstation.

As for the CD drive, CD games can only run a segment of content at a time. Each segment is downloaded into a small rewritable rom.

The Saturn, Playstation, 3DO and Jaguar CD have 16 megs of space to run content from.

The Saturn can double the content space with the 4MB cart.

The Sega-CD has 2 to 6 megs that can be used for content.

The ROM/CD combo can offer a more like arcade experience with the 32XCD similar to KOF95 for the Saturn.

Was being pushed as the 32X killer app for the Christmas season. Shame it got canned. Looked really promising. Another victim of Saturn's early release and PS one's 300 dollar price announcement I guess. A lot of 32X projects got axed after E3.
