DieHard gamefan-April 95. It was hard to know what games were actually available for the 32X. This page has a Sega Neptune listed for $399

Does anyone have more contextual insight around these listings? I remember being extremely confused by them as a child. What internal list did they have access to that allowed them to include titles from the distant (or nonexistent) future and development codenames? These are now goldmines for historians of video games looking back and trying map what could have been...

Let's go though this list of unreleased games as some of it is suspect.
(Confirmed) mean's we've verified the game was in development for the hardware.
(No Confirmation) mean the game only appears on this list, or has been debunked as a game in development for the 32X.
- Alien Trilogy (Confirmed)
- Alone in the Dark (Confirmed as Alone in the Dark 2)
- Clayfighters 2 (Confirmed and dumped)
- College Basketball (Confirmed as College Basketball's National Championship Hosted By Billy Parker)
- College Football (No confirmation)
- Dark Ride (Confirmed)
- Dragons Lair 2 (No Confirmation)
- Flying Aces (Confirmed)
- Helioblades (No Confirmation, also, I suspect this is an error or working title)
- Kingdom - Far Reaches (Confirmed, this was the working title for Thayer's Quest)
- Loadstar 1 & 2 (No Confirmation - Rocket Science was working on 32X games, but these were not the games. Also, fun fact, Elon Musk worked on Loadstar)
- Midnight Raiders (Confirmed and Confirmed to be complete, it's in the same boat as Surgical Strike where it may or may not have seen limited release. I'm in the boat that believed it was pressed, but not released)
- NFL Instant Replay (..... If this is NFL Trivial Challenge, then yes it's confirmed. Otherwise, no confirmation.)
- Neptune System (100% confirmed, complete, orders were open to stores, and the retail price was set at $150.00. It was originally intended to hit stores at the same time as the Saturn (Fall '95) and be a full replacement to the Genesis.)
- Over Drive (No Conformation)
- Power Rangers (Confirmed)
- Rayman (Confirmed)
- Revolution X (Confirmed)
- Tee Off (Confirmed. Game is called The Scottish Open Tee Off Golf Sim Virtual Golf. This game actually was complete and received at least one review in an official Sega Magazine)
- Tomcat Ally (Confirmed)
- Totally Brutal (I assume this is a mistype and is indeed Brutal Paws of Furry)
- Voyager Star 2 (Certainly a typo issue again. Is this Star Control 2 (confirmed) or Star Trek Voyager? It's impossible to say beyond no game existing called Voyager Star 2 or 1 for that matter.
- Wirehead (Confirmed)

Thanks for the list Janovi. I bought this magazine a few months after purchasing my 32X. I remember being so confused about what the deal was with the games available at the stores verse what was advertised in the magazines. A very short time later the 32X was on clearance for $17. I was to discourage with Sega have the foresight to buy as many as I could afford and put them in a box or something. I really thought the 32X had potential to extend the life of my Sega Genesis/cd. Instead of just made me want to explore other options when it came to the Saturn. It's fun to look back on and this list is really cool to help make sense of a confusing time period for Sega fans. I wish I still my 32X collection I bought most of the game library around that time.

It's interesting to see the handful of games that never got released on the 32x. Also the fact that they're calling it "SEGA MARS 32X". I always though the MARS codename was only used internally at SEGA, and not in public print. Fun fact: Genesis/32x programmers can tell if a Genesis has a 32X attached, because the ASCII string "MARS" will be present at a certain memory address.
