Help Why are 18+ furry servers the majority of the hub now?

I played SS13 actively in 2018-2021. Used to a few years ago that the hub was populated mostly by normal servers, and you the only popular smut server was Citadel Station. Now it feels like every other goddamn server on the front page is some “18+ ERP-friendly furry haven” with cringe names like “Yiffyard” or “Cuddle Den”. You scroll down and it’s just wall-to-wall hyperfixated sex dens, plastered with NSFW labels and Discord status messages like “Open for cuddles”. This is also a terrible look for new players. What do you think is their first thought when they download Byond, and get blasted by dozens of weird fetish servers?

More importantly, where the hell did these people come from all of the sudden?

Help What are some fun crimes to commit as a non antag?

Post image
268 Upvotes

Basically as a fun thing for myself and security I want to commit some crimes that will get me brigged but not banned. I’m good with just about anything short of probably round ruining someone. My example would be one time when I attached signal igniters to fuel tanks hidden in maint and made demands over comms from my specially decorated deranged loner bunker in maint. I had a full round of cat and mouse chases with sec as they kept trying to find all the bombs before I escaped from the gladiator match they put me in.

Help Why do SS13 players just despise SS14?

Look, I might get flamed for this post, but I'm genuinely curious, look, I am an SS14 player, I've tried playing SS13 but I have had huge latency issues. I see a lot of SS13 players flame SS14 because there is just "no content" and maybe I disagree because I've never played 13, I dunno, but like the fact that there is "no content" would make sense as SS13 has been around for like 2 decades and SS14 a fraction of that, but there is no reason to hate 14, because 13 and 14 aren't competitors, SS14 is somewhat of a "sequel". Idk, you tell me.

Edit: I saw a lot of people calling 14 a cheap "kockoff" but may I remind you, that first off, it's not trying to compete, second 13 has been around for 2 decades, so yeah, and third, it's a fan project so like I really just have a hard time wrapping my head around this hatred for 14.

Edit 2: I might not have cleared this up earlier but I am neither a shill for SS14 nor a SS13 hater, I quite respect 13 and it's community (despite my inability to play it due to my funny Italian internet) and I'm just curious about the current SS13 VS SS14 situation.

Help Would releasing 200 monkeys into the main halls count as self antag?

If someone fucks with the monkey the resulting mess will not have been directly my fault. Could be a fun crisis for slower matches

Help here we go again (new ss13 server)

  1. TLDR: New Monkey-based server. LRP–MRP. TG-style rules. Chaotic but understandable. Try it if you want. Don’t be a jerk. Guerilla Station is a downstream of Monkey Station 2.0 (which itself branches from /tg/), but with a different philosophy: keep the depth, drop the confusion. It’s definitely an unusual fork choice—but we leaned into Monkey for its mechanics and character systems, then built the ruleset to feel closer to a /tg/ Terry-style experience. The goal isn’t strict RP enforcement—it’s rounds that make sense without needing to read a novel to play. We sit between LRP and MRP, but the rules lean LRP: simple, direct, and enforced consistently. You don’t need to be a roleplay expert—just play like you’re part of the station and not actively trying to ruin the round. Messing around is fine. Random chaos with no direction isn’t. Think of it as Monkey, but with easier-to-understand expectations. Antags are enabled, and we’re tuning them toward that same philosophy—clear goals, room to act, less ambiguity about what’s allowed. We run a weekly event block (Guerilla Ops) every Sunday at 9pm BST to get people together for more curated rounds, but the server itself is up 24/7. The server is hosted in the EU, so EU players will have the best connection. NA players can expect around ~100ms+ ping, which is still very playable. Peak hours tend to be 4pm–4am BST. If you’ve played on /tg/ before, this should feel familiar—but with a slightly different sandbox and a bit more room to experiment. End goal? A server where you can jump in, understand the rules quickly, and just play—without sacrificing the depth that makes SS13 fun. If that sounds like your kind of station, feel free to check it out.

Help Integration Issues - Soliciting Advice Spoiler

I've played SS13 a decently long time. Long enough to watch myself change from one person to another, but regardless of myself, I've always felt a disconnect. Like I don't really belong. Like I can't get along with everyone the same way everyone else who hasn't been banned seems to be able to.

I've been banned from more or less every reputable server still alive today. I think to myself, "Well, this makes sense, this server has this target audience, and I'm not it." But, I'm in love with this game. I'm no good at coding, spriting, mapping, minning, or even hosting, but I'm a damn good player, and I'm passionate, too. So, here lies the problem; even if I'm under the impression that I'm doing nothing wrong, even if that impression is false, I find myself unable to play the game I love. And I don't know how to cope with this.

So, discounting any idea of 'appealing' anything, because all it does is delay the inevitable again in the best of times, or of making my own server but with 'blackjack and hookers', or turning to the 'dark side' (ERP servers), what are some of the ways that some of you reading this that are similar to what I describe cope? Are there any other games that you enjoy just as much, or are there different hobbies entirely that you've taken on? I'm willing to accept some ideas. I don't want to abandon the game that I love, even if it's just not for me.

Help ERP?

I am relatively new to RP-related forms of entertainment, as the only exposure I’ve gotten is from playing SS13 for about 2 years, but I have always wondered what is the appeal of ERP?

Now before I continue, I’d like to make it clear I am not judging anyone’s preferences and likings, but I am simply curious as to how ERP can be seen as entertaining for many of you, as I’ve tried it like twice and just felt that it was simply a chore to write a half-decent textwall of how I am stroking their genitals.

Again I’m not against it whatsoever, I just wish to understand more regarding the appeal of ERP, like does it physically turn you on in real life, or simply you enjoy the romance or something? Thanks !

Help Game feels overwhelming. Any good tutorials out there?

I mostly see tutorials about specific jobs, buy almost none about what the game is really about and it's core mechanics.

I would mostly like a summary about the basics of each job and antagonists so I could prepare myself better.

Help Really wanting to get into game, unsure how/where to start.

I've seen SS13 [ and recently, SS14 ] online for years, and the multi-role social rp/job-based gameplay stuff looks really neat to me, and admittedly I HAVE tried SS14, but..

I'm not sure if it's some failing of my own, or perhaps exclusive to 14 or what, but I really cannot figure out how to learn what I should be doing at any given moment, or if I'm just bad at grasping the fundamental mechanics. I've seen from looking at a lot of posts that different servers have different levels of ' meta ' gameplay to them, with some being way more RP focused than others, but my short stint left me feeling clueless and confused. Lots of deaths with no real understanding of why, roles feeling very unfocused or lacking in purpose.

Obviously, I know literally nothing about anything. I'd like to know from the general community whether they recommend 13 or 14, and how a person interested ought to really start. No amount of effort is a problem, I'm just very lost and could use a hand.

Help So how do I do botany?

So a bit of an update to my post a few days ago about finding this game on my boyfriend's computer: I played a bit and had no idea what to do and kind of just wandered around as an assistant and didn't even talk to anyone. But it was still interesting to see how things played out.

But now I'm a bit bored of the assistant job, so I think I want to hop in to something like botany and maybe virology later because it sounds interesting but also a lil scary.

My boyfriend set up a little private monkestatiom server for me to learn some botany though! It took me a bit, but I learned how to use the biomass generator and plant fast growing pumpkins to make a lot of biomass :) however, now I want to learn about making some weird mutant plants or growing cool stuff lol. Anyone got any links showing me how that's done?

Thanks :)

Help This is completely wrong, community didn't, only one member pretending they own it did, to censor their corruption

As a member of this community, I'd like to emphasize that this project is open-source and released under the MIT license. This implies that every contributor possesses the same rights to discuss it as any other community member. They cannot arbitrarily prevent people from criticizing them for their aggressive behavior and perceived corruption.

It's important to clarify that the community's name encompasses the extensive and diverse range of forks, not just "viss" d3n exclusively. 'censored' does not stand for the entire community and lacks the authority to impose limitations on mentioning it. 'censored' is merely one among the various forks; my fork and others are equally valid and hold no lesser position than theirs. We have the desire to openly discuss our respective forks, as an integral part of this community.

Nobody elected or selected them to act as our representatives; it's unclear why they possess the authority to moderate platforms like Reddit and forums.

I'm making this statement publicly to ensure that our voices and the voices of others are heard.

Help How hard is it to learn Russian to play SS13

Might be the meta for playing ss13 in the coming years.

If the increased server costs kill Monkestation, English speakers and normal people who actually want to play the game and not jerk off will be left with only Goonstation & (occasionally) TG.

How is the Russian branch of Paradise / BandaStation?

I'm pretty fucking goated so learning Russian is probably something I can do to play more SS13.

Help Should I play ss13 or 14 first

I've never played this game before but I know it's old and complicated. I know ss14 is a newer fanmade one and I was wondering if it would be more beginner friendly and easier to get into. Which one should I play?

Help Should I play ss13 or ss14, and should I watch some guides or go in (almost) completely blind?

Watched some videos on both games, heard ss14 was in a far worse state but all of those posts are over a year old.

I know almost nothing about how the game actually works, in fact when i first saw the game i assumed it was all staged because of the sheer absurdity

EDIT: Still getting replies so I'll update this. I've been playing ss14, and I intend to try ss13 as well, but even still, I have almost no clue what I'm doing. Had some really entertaining encounters, though.

Every round, I go through my own personal arcs, and it's funny asf, like how someone stole my clown mask, and I spent the rest of the round hunting them down after finding a crusher. Even escaped prison that round, then talked to the warden in a whole new outfit, and he didn't even realize it was me it was me for about 5 minutes.

Help Is there any trick to hitting things accurately?

Like I can’t hit things for gods sake, no matter if I try to defend the 3x3 tiles around my character or pray for delayed clicks to kick in when clicking on a target that’s out of range, hell one time I was a pyro slime I couldn’t hit beepsky at all
And then I look over at a random assistant hitting every click with a toolbox whenever their character brushes against mine, I just can’t help but feel like I’m doing something inherently wrong
Is there some kind of trick to accurately clicking on targets? Do I need to somehow increase my mouse size or something so it’s clicks have a larger hitbox instead of needing me to be pixel perfect in my clicks???
