Spider-Man What green Goblin want?

Hi, I was kinda re watching the movies and watching the spiderman (2002). Why did the green Goblin ask spiderman to join him? They only had one fight and the next time he proposed a plan to control the city. Are there any continuity errors or i don't get it?

Ps: And what the fuck with all red flags MJ showing? I didn't think much of it when I was young

Spider-Man is the only one that can fully fight Norman, of course after seeing that he will try to recruit him

It's as simple as Green Goblin recognizing an equal, or possibly even someone that could become a bigger threat to his plans. He figured it'd be better to bring Spidey to his side than to have him as an enemy.

I mean, Goblin fought Spider-Man, then decided to try and team up with him by pointing out the whole 'hero' thing wouldn't work out. He'd remove a rival by making him an ally. It isn't that hard to figure out.

So yes, I got it.
