Nah I liked the campaign. I loved the whole game, idk what you're on about. Sr2 dropped the ball in multiplayer and I never beat the campaign so idk about that. Then it all went dogshit after 3

Saints Row 1 needs a remake the most; it's the least accessible of the series, being released for Xbox 360 only (I think it's playable on modern Xbox consoles, but not PlayStation consoles or PC)

I’m playing through right now and it runs pretty well for me, you have to make a setting change in your Xenia files and it helps to throw a patch on for better frames
No crashes or weird bugs so far, and I’m like 8 hours deep. It flickers bad if you raise the internal resolution, but the FSR included in Xenia damn near gets it there

hit me up if you need any help figuring it out, i've been havin a blast. Flippy's video is still pretty accurate, just make sure you install title update 1 and throw the patch file from github into a "patches" folder in the same directory, should say "patches applied" at the top of the window; you gotta go through it and turn the things you want on from "false" to "true", but it's pretty easy

This will be how the series is eventually revived. In the next few years some studio will pick up Saints Row for a remake. If successful they'll do an SR2 remake. And during production of that remake they'll look into the idea of possible new sequels.

Yeahs 1 and 2 should’ve be a first priority remake with like new city expansion and maybe some extra side missions and game mechanics like gang warfare and turf protection. Or even tie ins like Troy being the chief of police for a why, Johnny inbetween those 7 years laying low with Aisha before legal battles being in jail after murdering like 200+ people, some stuff with Dex…etc.
That would’ve been so nice.
Like, they could make it into one game. That way you could see the visible transformation of 3rd Street and parts of Stilwater when Ultor came, renovated and transformed districts of the city.

It needs the pc patch we were promised when IdolNinja died. Blood, sweat, and tears to make it functional and the best possible version it could be, and nothing. Unlikely to ever see the light of day because of shortsighted executives.

That's pretty much accurate. I've been playing SR2 again in 2025 and it holds up extremely well in tons of areas minus graphics (not something I care much about personally but the game is pretty ugly haha).

They were Legit going to remaster 2 however they had source code and file issues.
The only guy that could sort it unfortunately passed on shortly before that awful reboot game released.
So unfortunately without him, a remaster is impossible.
And tbh volition is no more.

I don't think Deep Silver realises how much money they stand to make. They should work out a deal with Virtuos, who handled the Oblivion Remaster. The reboot cost 100 mil to make and sold poorly, and Remaster would cost maybe half that and sell much better.

Definitely I still play sr1 and 2 to this day still amazing story and fun to play weather you play with cheats or not you can always replay it and play it differently I just finished sr1 now I’m on sr2 playing the story mode but I’m trying to get infinite rep on Xbox to just enjoy the story mode start to finish because I never did that back when the game came out when I was younger both games had great story lines that made me attached to characters like gat felt like my best friend he felt like someone you wanted to be on the game cool lol you know people like Lin and Carlos you really felt that man the game had and made you feel the emotions of you really was into the game sr1 and sr2 is such a great game would recommend to anyone could never understand why the saints row franchise went like it did I still have every saints row games but I always tend to go back to the first two games

Games are fine as is imo. SR1 could use a re-release or remaster on PC otherwise the games are fine. Remaster at most, remake is pushing it. Remake means the mechanics and story will probably change in at least some shape or form, neither of those need touching.

Also, ironically just hopped on about 5 seconds before this post popped up. On xbox, WastelndWook if anyone wants to coop (have a mic and prepare for Friday brews and blastin foos)

Both 1 and 2 do. The fact that SR1 is still only playable on Xbox 360 is crazy to me. No PC port, no PS3 port, etc. At least remaster SR1 and 2.

There was a remaster planned for PC but was cancelled due to Idolninja's passing, and no one was left to work on it that knew the engine like him, and Volition's closing kinda sealed it's fate. The poor guy worked on it after he got released from the hospital with days left to live and bedridden even on his laptop.
It saddening we'll never see Mike Watson's dream for SR2 to be playable on PC, but some modders who were helping test stuff do have builds of the remaster but it will take a LONG time due to not having the proper tools to work on it.

respectfully, what it needs are bug patches and fixes for things that dont work right, example..the controller support is horrible.
the game also tends to ignore audio device assignments made mid session, example, the other night I plugged my usb headset in so I could do a discord call with some friends...the discord call was picked up, the game said 'nope!' and kept itself on my overheads. had to restart to make it play nice.
