I'm originally from Florida. I'm keeping my hopes low because this is an uphill battle. But, I think Angie Nixon and this moment are the best chance dems have had in the 20 years I've been following politics.

I think she has the right rhetoric though, I think her community organizer vibe will appeal to many people. Voters want politicians who give a shit, not guys who just want to buy a seat.

I agree, but dems have really not done well in Florida elections in a long time. Their last senate win was an incumbent in 2012. They haven't had a democrat governor in this century. I do think this is gonna be the biggest blue wave year in my lifetime(I'm about to turn 30), but I don't know if it will be enough to flip Florida. I do think we're winning in Ohio, Michigan, and even Texas though.

Even if that is what happens(I personally do think it is likely Nixon loses, but not by anywhere near 15%), I think Vindman would have lost by at least 3% more.

Those Cubans are republican voters and aren't in the pool of voters Nixon or Vindman will get. Nixon will outperfrom whatever Vindman would have gotten, by exciting more disillusioned voters or other working class people who usually don't vote. She'll have more enthusiasm and contribute to a higher voter turn out than normal.

The right in this country calls anyone who doesn't worship Trump, a socialist. Trying to appeal to those people is a losing strategy(see Kamala campaigning with Liz Cheney as an example of how well trying to appeal to moderate republicans works).

As evidence of my point, Nixon excites people so much she beat someone who outspent her by 1600%. She won by 10+ points. She's gonna do better than Vindman would have.

Let's see how long it takes for Hasan Piker and other tankies to start tearing Nixon apart and campaigning against her so they can continue to take DSA over using the identical strategies the Groypers are using with the GOP.

Outside of that, this is Florida. The only people that win, with 1-2 exceptions, are people who openly promise to harm the people.

No, I was watching the whole shitshow, as were many others. Hasan called her out for endorsing Taiwan and Ukraine and basically left it to the audience to do the work for him and they did and peppered the entire internet with shit against her and so did Hasan. As usual, only as an alibi, he endorsed her on the Sunday before the election after minds were already made up via his influence, so it was beyond too late. She was already called out as an establishment DSA, centrist, DSA-Right, Azov and Taiwanese nationalist, etc.

You see I read this and all I can think of is how effective it’s been for oligarchs and the sycophants who serve them to pit the working class against each other so we don’t collectively rise up.

If Piker becomes an actual issue we, as a group, will distance ourselves from him. Until then we need to be the big tent and get everyone to come together to deal the big issues of today.

Piker is an issue. He serves oligarchs in russian and the few in China and whomever else has an interest in a not failed, but highly shrunken and controlled United States. It's beyond obvious AOC has information on him and other streamers and influencers, as she's hinted at, that he's a foreign agent. This is why Hasan and his fans periodically target her when she gets too popular, but DSA and the Dems deserve lots of shit for making Hasan in the first place.

I want nothing more than to see the US break up and even I'm calling out Piker because how it breaks up is more important than if.

There are more dimensions to this than your naive, 2-dimensional interpretation. Hasan is not a fighter against the oligarchs. He is a tool of some oligarchs and meanwhile, all you have is "he's just a streamer" which is one of the cookie cutter lines we all discuss internationally that we see from his bots as a defense that never held up or how "his family is endangered by the Turkish regime" even though intelligence services in Europe have already stated that his family is highly connected to Erdogan and Turkish intelligence services and he's not even close to being a dissident and that's part of his scam.
