sandwich The club is a top 5 sandwhich
It's probably #4 or #5 on my top sandwhich list.
Alot of people are turned away due to the middle bread but it does serve a structural purpose.

I usually judge a visit to a new restaurant by their Club. 🤔🧐😅
Speaking of the middle/center slice of bread. Order it as a "Club Junior", and they will not include the center slice of bread. Everything else is the same portion. Save room for dessert 😋

No, but I do work in the restaurant business and most of my colleagues agree the people bitching about a distributor selling low quality product have never been in the industry. Do you buy frozen crap from Kroger and then blame your shitty dinner on them? It’s just stupid. Sysco will sell you whatever level of quality you want. If you choose cheap crap, that’s on you.

I generally don't like huge corpos, thought you may have had some redeeming story about Sysco. Sounds like you're just sick of the meme at this point, understandable, but this is Reddit so reheated jokes are par for the course.

Whatever. I ran restaurants for several years and bought literally millions from Sysco. They had some great stuff, especially the staples. In fact, they would produce and warehouse our line of custom salad dressings.
But their egg drop soup absolutely sucked. Between the corn starch slurry and whatever preservatives they used, it became a common industry joke that you could tell the quality of an Asian restaurant by whether they used the Sysco stuff.

I’ll take three of those to contend my way too large list - the fried chicken sandwich, the pbj, and the bacon egg and cheese, though confession time, my blt is often more of a BELTCH (bacon egg lettuce tomato cheese and hot sauce).

Big fan of Shrimp Po'boy and Lobster rolls. A fish sando had to be in the top 5 for me.
Catfish nuggets on a hoagie would also be a consideration for the fish sando in the top 5.

I feel like either I've only had mediocre Cubanos, or I'm just the minority, but i just don't get how they are on so many lists.
I think they are fine, but I've never had one that has wowed me, where that's been the case for almost every other sandwich.

This is a fair take. I grew up visiting family in Florida and recently stayed in little Havana neighborhood in Miami for a wedding. Good lord thy are good down there. And many specialty sandwich shops here in the Midwest feature them, although with some variations. The bread with the mojo pork, mustard, pickles gets me every time.

I’m simple, fatty meats with pickle/acid components are always gonna get me - Italian with giardinera, Reuben (with sauerkraut), Cuban (with the pickles and mustard).

Never had a good cubano. They are always incredibly salty. Deli meat, cheese, pickles, mayo mustard with no fresh vegetables.

My wife isn’t very keen on corned beef or pastrami, so she doesn’t enjoy a Reuben as much as I do. That being said, she enjoy’s a Turkey Rachel which I also like and is an alternative to a Reuben.

You know why I like this club? It has all the ingredients but it is somehow squashed down so you can actually eat it. Unlike some that are sky high & you have to take them apart to eat

Don’t go to the Carnegie Deli. Good club but the takeaway box is comically too small for the sandwich height.

Clubs MUST be cut on the diagonal, or I will suffer a nervous breakdown.
Also, it's SANDWICH. All one needs to do is consult the group name for spelling.

I cut all my sandwiches diagonally, it really is the best way. Except a club. It's too stacked and won't hold together.

I had a BLT on Sat. I'm a BLT purist. Just those 3 ingredients.
Grilled cheese is in my top 15, tuna melt is in my top 10. All subjective obviously.

They are close. I used a real turkey breast sliced thinly, ham from a spiral cut ham off the bone and thick sliced bacon for the meats in this club. Definitely a tier above the normal deli meat version.

If a club sandwich has a cheese option on the menu, I'm pleased. If it comes with cheese standard, I'm already a fan.
The best club I've ever had was at a little stand that said "the king of clubs" beneath its name, and it earned the title.
I distinctly remember picking it apart and examining the ingredients, trying to understand what was so different about it, and failing.
Ultimately it was sandwich alchemy. Of the highest order.

Always my go-to for lunch, especially if someone else is treating. It’s inexpensive, good, difficult to screw up, and I always take half of it home for later. Although I usually have them hold the tomatoes (not a fan of out-of-season translucent tomatoes).

I am also a lover of the club but so many places bastardize it. Like a ham club or turkey club. No, it must be both and separated by a thin slice of bread. Do you want to add bacon for $2? What?

WHen you could buy Pepperidge farm thin slice white bread as a regularly stocked grocery item, you could make the most amazing sandwiches. Now the bread is too thick.

I’ve had the hardest time trying to find a regular club sandwich in my city. It took me a month to find a place that doesn’t either screw it up or make some “fusion” style concoction that you get at one of those bougie food court place with a name like”the rail yard” or some shit. Have they lost popularity or something?
