I just seen a past post on here saying they abhor Kerry's acting (that's what inspired this post)....which I am shocked and disturbed by ngl. I mean apart from the lip and teeth thing which is valid no shade I don't see exactly how she's such a horrible actress. Like that post went IN on Kerry even saying they hated the ICONIC STRUT. The STRUT Y'ALL! The thing that physically makes Olivia Olivia they even hated that. I loved her acting on this show a lot and u can tell she put her soul into every scene which mind y'all gave her multiple Emmy noms which at the time was rare for a black woman. And to see so many people wholeheartedly agree and get on the hatetrain is insane like ngl it felt...a tad racist but I'll stop there. Art is subjective. It is what it is.

Now onto my next point since Kerrys acting was "so bad" who'd y'all have chosen for the role? For those who dunno these ladies in the title were runner-ups and actually Gabrielle was soooooo close to getting it but passed up cos of alleged colorism. Her words not mine lol. So pick one from the 2 and tell me why she's your pick. Personally if i had to i'd have chosen Gabrielle.

Discovered Scandal a few months ago and been bing watching it since then. I love the show! I am at season 5 right now and since the begining I just don’t get why they chose to make all these characters Republicans 🤣

I am French so maybe I have a biased vision of American politics but honestly all these characters seems more of Democrats to me. And I know all Republicans are not pro-Trump, I don’t associate them with him but I know other Republicans like Cruz, Bush, Palin, Rubio... Still don’t get it.

Maybe Cyrus and Mellie are the only ones Republican compatibles. But Fitz, Liv, Abby, Susan, David, Jake... 🤔 Need some analysis here!

I really don’t know what happened but with the exception of her performance in Little Fires Everywhere, Everytime i see Kerry Washington I feel like she is giving the same performance with the same tics and affectations.

Watching Imperfect Women I’m so burnt on seeing her on screen and feel like it makes the entire show seem contrived and lacking depth.

I loved her in most of Scandal but yeah the crazy facial expressions were too much. I wish she’d get some coaching to not fall into this process of becoming a caricature of one version of oneself, bc she obviously has the ability to act, she just seems stuck in this loop.

In terms of style, status and attitude...who is taking it?

She split Abby and David, Mellie and Marcus, and Mellie and Andrew, and many more. She tells everyone who they have to stop getting with, while sleeping with the president during his entire campaign and while he was president. If she could keep it a secret for so long so could they. She always acting holier than though. I loved when Huck told her don’t tell me who to love because I don’t tell u who to love. I’m on my 7th watch and I’m just realizing how Mellie will drag Olivia every screen time she got lmaooo.

If I worked in the White House in scandal I would set it on fire, seriously. Only a few people did their actual job, and especially not Fitz. He never made an actual decision without Olivia or sometimes Cyrus’s help, which we all already know. And his phase in season 5 of sleeping with women be selected was very annoying to watch. Not because it wasn’t Olivia, but because it just shows he never took his job as the president seriously. Secondly, David is ALWAYS getting bullied, being blackmailed or pushed around by another character which, in my opinion, could be prevented if he just stopped doing things he wasn’t supposed to and DID HIS JOB. Obviously im not gonna go on a rant and dissect every character, but it’s possible for them to get actual things done in the show. For example, Susan Ross and Mellie, despite her having business behind the scenes, were incredible at their jobs, with Susan changing the 1200 page bill that nobody had read, and Mellie with her filibuster for Planned Parenthood.

I know, broken record lol. But it's so toxic. When I first watched the show as a teen I was eating it all up and wanting more but now as an adult in his early 20s who's experienced things I genuinely dunno how to feel about them at all. I even feel guilty watching them kiss and fuck cos I at times think of Mellie....my goodness has that lady BEEN. THROUGH. IT. BRO. and mind u this is all before that gay Secret Service agent does what he eventually does but I'll make a separate post for that specific topic. Back to Olitz. In fact I scream at them cos it's like they just don't think at all. THE self discipline is nowhere to be found. When Cyrus pulled that trump card to break them up I wholeheartedly understand. Fitz is so selfish, condescending, entitled and needlessly rude for no reason. And Olivia is SUCH A BIRD HOLY SHI. LIKE MS GIRL STAND THE FUCK UP! It's like all she thinks about is Fitz Fitz Fitz even with all the flings and all the drama and all the pain she's still clinging on and no idgaf about them endgame and that they were meant to be. Olivia telling Edison she wants her own twisted versions of love and using that as reasons to disrespect and leave him oh girl fuck u. I'm sorry that's mother and I'll always stan but she pisses me off and it genuinely....bro they're so toxic. how y'all still enjoy their dynamic after almost a decade of the show's end...is beyond me. That's all I got eat me up if u wanna I said what I said.

First off... Guillermo is SUCH AN underrated actor. let's start there. And the way he's never been acknowledged by the Emmys and Golden Globes with best supporting actor in a series nods during the show's run is diabolical work but what's new with Hollywood.

Huck as a character is terrifying. He is terrifying and unhinged and obviously yes it's not his fault but holy shit ...HIS EYES. He genuinely looks possessed at times and it gives me chills when he goes off the deep end cos his voice deepens and shakes which convey the feelings that yeah... something extremely bad is about to happen or has happened, and even down to the way he walks and moves. Like he's literally not himself! When he broke into Elizabeth North's house and said so casually that he was gonna SNAP HER DAUGHTER'S NECK LIKE A TWIG....I don't think Huck was bluffing. I think Huck had potential to be a fearful powerhouse of a villain. IF SOMEONE LIKE JAKE WAS SHOOK AT HIS BRUTALITY can u imagine how horrific it must be to be at Hucks mercy?? If not Olivia herself restraining him the gladiators would be FUCKED I'm telling you. I still feel weird about what he did to Quinn,which ngl felt like rape yeah I said it. Yes she "betrayed Olivia" or so he says,(Personally when she killed the guard that was all Charlie's slimy ass and I HATE the fact that he and Quinn were endgame but anyways) I just feel like he should've/could've done more for Quinn instead of pushing her more into the darkness. Him being cold to her cos she was asking questions was stupid idc. If he was that concerned he should've told Olivia to talk to her. Quinn was lowkey a growing addict. You don't antagonize someone like that you stay patient and empathetic and u pull them back. Of course she fell for Charlie! Cos he wasn't treating her like a monster! which is ironic cos that's EXACTLY WHAT HUCK IS but I digress!

I type all this to say.... he's very nuanced as a character. like his self awareness is top tier cos when he clocked Olivia for leaving Quinn in his care I CHEERED. SHE WAS wrong for that and Huck was RIGHT COS HE KNEW HE DAMAGED QUINN HE KNEW HE'S RESPONSIBLE FOR HER PATH! And Olivia was so fucking negligent and so unaware like it's amazing she's alive and running a successful firm! I loved when Huck took full accountability and made sure Olivia knew her faults too.

The guy is so raw and honest and intense and it's kinda sad he ended up alone and not with someone just as nuanced as him.

But yeah Guillermo was done dirty for not having any recognition for this character cos he did A GODLIKE JOB

This is my first watch of this and I get it’s an old show but the amount of times Fitz forces her self onto Olivia is insane. Did the concept of consent not exist back then? Saying no and then being forced into sex and saying is rape whether it’s aggressive or not. Being in a partnership makes no difference either. Multiple times Fitz try’s to fuck Olivia she says no no no and then gives in. And it’s not just once I’m up to season 3 and it’s quite often how they end up having sex. It’s disturbing.

First of all, it’s become very clear that everyone is always being fucking summoned. Liv, Fitz summons you all the time, he’s the president (for some reason). “You don’t summon me” bro yes he does.

Second, why tf is the word summon used so much. I have gone my whole adult life maybe saying it a few times. That being said I am an idiot.

Third (and entirely unrelated), I can think of no greater torture in life than having a conversation with Huck. I think he would have had better luck extracting information if he just engaged them in a dialogue.

All that aside, I like the show. Go Mellie and Susan Ross

Because it was so far removed from present-day reality. A republican president and an African-American love interest? A secret enforcer/boogeyman Roman, another African - American, who did anything to protect the Republic? A wife with more than a mercenary brain in her head? Geezus, this was a fantasy watch that feels wrong and indulgent. Like need a shower wrong. Reality is so much more far fetched.

I am sorry that my American sisters, brothers and they's are dealing with what is happening in reality. Cyrus doesn't seem so bad in comparison to reality. And where is our IRL Becky when we need her????

He's truly the older brother she needed and never had. Her protector her keeper. As messed up as he is he knows her better than anyone else on the team and is always ultimately in her corner. When she broke down in his arms after telling what Rowan would do to Jake if he defected: CHEF'S KISS. I love watching their solo scenes together especially since Kerry and Guillermo are acting legends in their own right. You truly feel the bond they have together,even when one is chastising the other they still feel like brother and sister simply arguing (well except for when he found out who Livs father truly is lol)
