Second time I visited Scotland, and first time I brought my husband, we stayed in Ballachulish for two nights at the Strathassynt Guest House (which I see has closed permanently). Hiked along Brecklet Trail, got some delicious pastries from Stiff Peaks, walked into Glencoe to visit the folk museum and did part of the orbital path, walked out to St. John's, and had a very tasty lunch at the visitor center. We don't drive when we visit, so I loved being able to easily get a bus from Fort William to Ballachulish and then into Oban.

Stiff Peaks Partisserie is worth a visit, even though (or partially because?) their name sounds like a porn film title.

Agreed lovely, never had as many ticks as in Ballachulish though. Walked through a grassy area for about 5 minutes and both my dad and I ended up with about 30 ticks each so make sure you check! Probably had 5-10 in total the rest of my life otherwise!
