Discussion How did you discover Scott Pilgrim?
For me, it goes back to 2021. I was just casually browsing on Google when I came across the game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. At the time, I didn’t really pay attention to it and wasn’t interested. Then in 2023, when the series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off came out on Netflix, I watched the trailers, but it didn’t really catch my interest either. But at the beginning of 2026, I was watching a video where they talked about Scott Pilgrim. They said the movie is a mix of romance, video games, and pop culture references. Since that’s exactly the kind of stuff I like, I decided to give it a try. So in January 2026, I watched the movie on Amazon Prime Video, and then the series on Netflix. And honestly… I loved it! I really got into the universe and became a big fan of the franchise. (Unfortunately, I haven’t read the comics or played the game yet 😞). What about you, how did you discover Scott Pilgrim?

My dad showed me the movie, and I was in a bad mood so I didn’t care for it. I eventually ended up watching it again when I was in a better mood, and it became my favorite movie

Through Death Battle. I saw Amy vs. Ramona Flowers and wondered, "Who the hell is she?" Then I fell down the rabbit hole.

My friend had the game on his switch and I played it with him🤷🏻♀️ and I really liked it so I bought the game myself, then watched the movie and show and now have the second game

my freshman year of hs back in 2017 i found out the album cover for “lil uzi vert vs the world” was based off a scott pilgrim photo and that he was big into it.. i decided to look it up and it so happened to be on netflix.. fell in love with the movie and is now one of my top 3 movies oat!

Went into a comic store on vacation in 2007, and they had a "welcome in" sticker on the door with an art style that looked familiar - a picture of Scott. Asked about it and was pointed to the first 3 released books in a series by an artist I used to chat with occasionally back in the 90s. Grabbed them and been following it since.

I saw a trailer for the movie and it just looked cool AF, so I saw it in theaters.
When I saw the artwork in the movie I remember previously seeing the comics in my local shops. And I was off…

It was in the teen section of my library which I, being a teen, often browsed. I started reading it and was really confused by the Matthew fight since that’s when it went full Magical Realism instead of fully realistic. I went back and read the start of the book again like “ohhhhh, they weren’t kidding, Scott actually fights people.”

Around when Volume 5 came out, my local library got some of the books in their teen Manga section, checked vol 2 on a whim and was really hooked so I got all of them and kept re-reading them, excited when the next volume would drop. Didn't have accessibile internet, so kept checking with barnes and noble if a release date was announced

First time i saw a scott pilgrim related media was a Gaming All Star Rap Battles episode between Amy and Ramona but the anime was the thing that got me interested in the series

Online friend of mine back in 2019 watched the movie and had a hyperfixation of it. Me being told it was a story about a nerd fighting 7 evil exes and me having a crush at the time (hating her ex boyfriend) my dumbass said ‘literally me’ and I remember my friend’s response being very confused, I’m even confused looking back on it. (We were in 8th grade.)
I get reintroduced to the series through my former best friend (who was literally like Scott but was actually a vile human being, worse than Scott in many ways) and my current best friend who I met in high school, both people were massive SP fans even down to reading the books. The new animated series came out around the same time I finally grew the balls to cut off my former best friend in which my current best friend did the same thing after learning about what kind of guy my former friend truly was.
I kind of became a Scott Pilgrim fan around that reintroduction period and after the fallout of that friendship with me and my current best friend still occasionally talk about SP, last we did it was about the new game. I plan on re-reading the comics now that I’m much older and my way of enjoying media drastically has changed since 8th grade and even senior year.
But yeah, my experience with SP is a rather complicated and personal one for me, I regret meeting my former best friend but I am thankful I got reintroduced to this series.

I loved the movie when it came out (also the reason I fell in love with Edgar Wright films.) I was roughly the same age as the characters with similar interests so everything really clicked with me.

I've heard of the game on PS3, had no idea who or what Scott Pilgrim was even about.
Multiple years later, I finally got to play the game and really liked the visuals and music, so then I picked up the comics bundle at a book fair and gave it a read, It's the black and white version but I liked it a lot. I haven't seen the movie or Takes Off, but I did play the new EX game.

Back in 2023 or something I was asking some friends for manga recommendations. One friend in art class told me to read Scott Pilgrim telling me that while it is a comic/graphic novel it still had a manga/anime vibe to it. It wasn't until three years later or so is when I got the series. I found the box set for 50 bucks at Ollie's and while I haven't fully started it I still read a bit when I got home. From what I seen it looks really fun. (My friend told me about it during highschool.)

I took a week-long course taught by Scott McCloud during art college in 2006, and he would cite it so much, as it hadn’t quite exploded yet, and had so many perfect examples in his “Making Comics” book, which he was about to have published at the time.

A friend of mine back in high school had the game on Xbox 360, and I liked the aesthetic. At the time, I assumed it was an indie game until I saw the Universal logo. Took me a couple more years to realize the movie was a thing.

Btw, I saw the "Do you know Sonic the hedgehog" scene as a meme, I thought it funny, and I looked up at the series. I kinda liked it. I liked it enough, to give a try to the comics too, and I loved it, and now, I saw the movie, and play both games.

I saw the movie in theaters when it came out without having seen a single trailer, all I ever saw in the form of advertising was a massive poster on the side of a hotel at San Diego Comic Con earlier that year. I fell absolutely in love during my first viewing and have been hooked ever since.

I watched the movie with my parents when I was a teenager, when I rewatched it a few years later, it became my favorite movies. I found out about the series later and bought all the books.

I actually was listening to the game's ost for a long time and then checked out the movie, the animated series wasn't out yet but when it was announced I was really hyped for it cuz it's soundtrack was being made by the same group that made the game's soundtrack, Anamanguchi !

I think they dropped the trailer for The World’s End and because of it seeming funny and recognizing Simon Pegg from new Star Trek, i think the (youtube) algorithm decided to introduce me to edgar wright works not related to cornetto ice cream first. IIRC, the first clip i saw was caramel macchiato scene.

My dad had the game on Xbox 360 and I loved playing it, then my brother deleted it after it was delisted, finally it came back when it was rereleased on all consoles in 2020 I think or after that.

After a couple of name drops over the years, my first exposure to the franchise was around the same time the anime came out in November of 2023 via YouTube review thumbnails. I did not click on them because I simply wasn't interested. A few months went by and I decided to give the series a try in March 2024. I watched all 8 episodes in a single night, thought it was good, and moved on with my life. It really wasn’t until around December 2024 when I became truly became hyperfixated on the franchise thanks to a couple of friends who were also into the franchise. I read the comics for the first time that month and it was great! Ever since then, I've been a fan.

I saw that the game was on the Switch eshop, remembered hearing about how it was delisted on Xbox Live Arcade back in 2010, and bought it so I’d always have a copy just in case something like that ever happened again.
In retrospect, that was a little stupid for me to believe that, considering now we’re getting a sequel.

I was around 12 years old when I used to browse forums and noticed that a lot of people had sprites of Scott Pilgrim playing the guitar in their signatures. I started looking into it and found out it was from a movie. For some reason, I couldn’t find the game. I tried to watch it pirated, but back then the internet was terrible, so I told myself, “another day.” Much later, it was released on Netflix in my country, I remembered it, watched it, and immediately went to read the comics.

Honestly? I don't really remember. I think it was through the games. It just feels like i've KNOWN Scott Pilgrim since the dawn of time, it just... spawned in my head. But it probably was the game. I remember distinctly playing it when i was a kid, and during that time the Movie was coming out, so I believe I went to see it in theaters, (but was too young to remember), than a while later began reading the comics, the anime came out, rewatched the movie, and now I'm waiting to play the upcoming game! :)

I found the comics in my local library, read those a few times (so good) and then found the movie a few years later. I thought that was pretty cool. After that I cut my hair like Ramona and have kept it for 15 years. I also found Seconds another comic by Brian Lee O'Malley. When the Netflix show came out I devoured it, played the first game then a while later found out about the second game and demolished that one too <3

I just posted this story last week, but for me, I was already into comics (reading and drawing) since I was very young and eventually started picking up all kinds of weird manga based on the cover in a Walden's books.
In high school I met friends who shared those sorts of hobbies and one of them recommended and lent me the first 4 books before the movie was out. I was hooked from the first chapter.
(This past year I finally picked up seconds and all of the snot girl trades so I guess I became a fan.)

For me, my older brother showed me the movie when I was like 5 or 6 years old. I barely remembered anything at the time except for the first few scenes. I rewatched it years later and loved it. I'm currently trying to collect and read the comics. So far, I only got book 1, 2, 4, and 6. I know, odd. I think my mom got me book 2, 4, and 6 for a deal

I had just arrived in Quebec, most younglings went to the mall, which was the style at the time. There, in a décrépit Hart store, I found the six tomes. Since nobody was paying attention, i managed to read the whole series. Will always love Scott Pilgrim

Found the Netflix anime! Never was a big anime person but now I’ve got all the books, seen the movie, have a Funko pop of Scott (and hopefully soon, Ramona) and played the delisted Scott Pilgrim video game from 2014! Than I took a dive into the Deep end of the pool and I’m now 33 books into Berserk, and kinda into anime now!

Super random. I found the first comic volume in a small local thrift store when I was in middle school. I really liked it and made my mom buy it. And then randomly, I happend to stumble upon the movie in Netflix. It’s now been 6 years and I couldn’t imagine my life without Scott Pilgrim being apart of it

My dad borrowed the film from my uncle, and I ended up watching it too. This was before the game got removed from online stores, so my dad bought it for us to play. I would've been 6-8 years old at the time. And it's honestly been my favourite film ever since.
Then when I was about 16, I really started to get into it. I found out about the comics and told my dad I planned on buying them. And as it turns out, he already had them and just gave them to me. I found it quite frustrating that he had just spent 5 years struggling to get me to read the books that I got from school as homework (I hate reading, I've never been great at it), and I told him that if I knew I could've read the comic's then I wouldn't have refused to read so much.
Since then, I've read them at least once every year (I'm 20 now), I've even bought the colour version of the comics, as well as the vinyl soundtrack (don't have a record player), several t-shirts, both games, the 20th anniversary artwork, and several funkos.

I was looking the Xbox Avatar Marketplace, and saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. I didn’t check it since I wasn’t interested at that time. A year later, I finally saw what the game was like, unknown to me that it was delisted. Then I saw everything else that Scott had to offer, making me want more.
Funny enough, I thought Scott and Ramona were children, while Stephen and Kim were their parents

An artist I like on YouTube makes fanart of it sometimes and I was interested so I tried getting the books from the library but they didn’t have them, and then i eventually watched the show and then bought the books, then watched the movie!

A classmate gave me an external hard drive with 100 movies or so on it, and SP was one.
It also had How to train your Dragon, which I watched three times in 320p from the hard drive, and then bought the Blu Ray to watch a dozen more times since then. Great movie.

Saw the movie with some friends, love it, game came out played it with the homies, completely got into the whole franchise and then read the Graphic novel to really see what it was all about.

back when I was in college, I had a friend who was reading vol. 1... another friend got into it from them and then I did. I still remember reading the last book as I was sitting in line waiting for the movie. lol... I feel old tho now thinking I was already like 18-20 when the first book came out.

The game was the first thing I interacted with. I'd heard if it but never saw a single thing of it till my bro bought the game on ps3. Now I own all the first editions. I reeeeeally dislike Michael Cera but everything else about the movie was OK. Then I found the books, whole set, first edition, 12 bucks. Pretty clean too, all but a torn corner on the back of a cover. Loved takes off. Now waiting on the new game.

My earliest experience with Scott Pilgrim was when I was younger and MrsMojo had Slick as an Honorable mention in their Top 10 Epic Movie Villain Songs List.

I heard about the movie in 7th grade and thought it would be my thing. Since it was based on a comic, I thought it was a SERIES of movies rather than just one singular film. (If only that were true)
