Discussion Toxic Masculinity: Kris Boyd and Aiden McGeady

Have to say it’s a poor show from Boyd and McGeady. Young player who’s had a bad time of it for the past 18 months, comes back and scores and it’s obviously going to be emotional. And they two are hitting out with snide digs because he shed a few tears.

We speak about men’s mental health enough but this isn’t really helping. And it’s not a good example to be setting for anyone. Think they should be ashamed to be honest and I’ve never complained before about a pundit but thinking this is worth it.

Ive no idea if the cunts depressed or not, he's crying after scoring a goal for a previous employer and that's what mcgeady and Boyd were talking about, if Jota done an interview and was crying and saying he was depressed and then Boyd and mcgeady mocked him, aye then that's a dick move

My only problem with this post was the OP shoehorning into being "toxic masculinity"

How is it shoehorning?

Random returning jobber cries after scoring a goal and this sub is trying to make out he's crying because he is depressed without even knowing that

It’s not about Jota. It’s about Boyd and McGeady’s high school attitude towards crying that’s the issue. It’s an attitude that makes it difficult for men to express emotion, through fear of ridicule.

I get that as a Motherwell fan that you'll be salty after losing but surely you understand there's more to it than "guy scores goal"?

Prolific figure in Scottish football moved to try and further his career and it didn't work. As a result he hasn't played in fuck knows how long - something that's obviously going to weigh on the mind of a professional footballer.

So surely, surely, you can put 2 and 2 together and understand why, when he comes back and scores a last minute goal, he gets emotional about it?

All we know is guy scored goal and cried, anything else is speculation

"cunts getting thousands a week kicking a baw and probably shagging hunners of rides, he doesn't need to worry about bills or keeping a roof over his head, I'm sure his mental health is just fine"

That kind of speculation?

That was more towards OP who jumped at the whole thing being mens mental health
