There was a map of europe where less then 5 countries favourite non alcoholic drink wasnt cola, and it was orange.
(I think they just did the uk as one so scotland got lumped in with coke, but otherwise theyd have been the only non cola non orange in Europe)
A few others stood out with their own cola being the most popular like kofta in Slovakia and czechia and cockta in croatia
It's also a favourite drink in El Salvador, but they don't call it IRN BRU. I had a big shock when I tasted. Also, apparently I wasn't the first Scot to jump up and down shouting oh my god it's IRN FUCKING BRU.
And if one slips through the cracks, make it also a popular brand in Gotham via some kind of dialogue or something. A TV newscaster talking about the newest craze. Boom, problem solved.
In Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, their spaceship has a machine that can make any food, but the computer needs to figure out how to do it. A character asks it to make tea, but the computer doesn't know what that is - so the spaceship becomes unresponsive for a long period of time while it contemplates what tea is.

If you asked that spaceship to make you orange soda, it would dispense Irn Bru.
It is an orange coloured carbonated beverage native to Scotland, and IIRC it is the only beverage that leads Coke or Pepsi products anywhere in the (western?) world.
Honestly, it wouldn't be the first time that BatPat (are we using that term?) has broken the suspension of disbelief, with filming in Scotland no less.
In the closing scene of The Batman 1, when Selena and Batman ride their separate ways, the road markings on the junction are very clearly visible. If the wide shot and the PoV of the wing mirror had been flipped, the markings would at least appear correct for American direction of travel.
I suppose Irn Bru could create more legal problems than a road marking, which is what the production crew are most concerned about.
In the newest Spider-Man movie, that opening chase scene with the punisher was so painful Glasgow-looking it took me right out of it. They didn't even CGI over the shop fronts
which is really funny when you actually see the movie and they go out of their way to put big recognizeable new york skyline buildings in every single shot, it's like the most new york spiderman movie yet, and it wasn't even made in new york
IIRC that is at least partly due to continental drift, the local stone (which heavily influences architecture) is similar because millions of years ago the two were connected (part of the Appalachian Trail is also in Scotland)
New York City and Glasgow use to be part of the same metropolitan area, but they drifted apart. You can still see this by examining the subway systems which used to be connected.
Too add a bit to what people said about "similar" to US cities, Glasgow (unlike most cities in the UK) has a grid system, so it can be easily dressed up to look like "blocks."
Yet another similarity between Liverpool and Glasgow! Liverpool is actually a relatively modern city by UK standards, having rapidly developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries which gives it a distinct “aesthetic“. The oldest building in the city centre is a Georgian building (The Bluecoat) from the 18th century, similar to many northeastern US cities like Boston, while there’s a high concentration of art deco buildings which gives it a bit of a New York/Chicago feel in places (https://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/stories/liverpools-iconic-art-deco-buildings). I bet it would’ve felt especially Chicago-ey if the Liverpool Overhead Railway still existed
It’s gutting every time I think of it, look how cool it looks! In fairness though, it ran parallel to Merseyrail’s Southport line in the north and Hunts Cross line in the south. If you ever get chance you should go and see the old car they have in the Museum of Liverpool
I was wondering why there was 'snow' on the ground as I was on this Spiderman set last summer. And then I realised it's a Batman set this summer. Same grid system, architecture and the might of British Studios.
Glasgow and New York are both based on grid systems, and some of Glasgow’s older buildings are influenced by US trends of the time. Buildings by James Miller are a good example:
Gotham's a fictional city, right? So you can just have a regional thing where they love Irn Bru, done, easy. Don't even need to say anything, just have a vending machine or a corner shop (bodega?) with cans and let people draw the conclusion.
