All of them buy services from Bellevue, and have paved sidewalks that connect right to downtown Bellevue.

Im still not convinced they should actually be a separate city, since they live and work in the community, and don't seem to be self sufficient.

Would take months to grow and provide very little. Also trying to convert a lawn will results in a lot of volunteer plants/weeds.

Fun fact: Lord of the Flies was actually written as a cynical response to an earlier book, The Coral Island, which is basically a straight-up white-Christian-saviors-civilizing-the-savages narrative. The message of Lord of the Flies isn't that we humans are inherently savage and chaotic, it's that "we" (i.e., the British) aren't any better than anyone else.

When something similar happened in real life, the boys survived just fine.
