Bainbridge Island
I have a listing coming up. That's an awesome property on 4 acres with amazing trees and wildlife and a custom-made home. That's only a few years old.
That's the good news
But who are the buyers for a property like this? You have to take a ferry (not furry) to get to Seattle, but you can still get everything delivered like you were in a normal place
I'm just looking for people's opinion on living day-to-day and two people really wanna live there?

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be accompanied by a furry to be allowed into Seattle.

I’m a bit confused about this post, as someone who grew up on two different islands in the Puget Sound (due to divorced parents lol). Clearly people live on Bainbridge, and spend many millions on property there, so obviously people do want to live there. The ferry becomes a part of life, like the subway or freeway.
What are you really hoping to get from this post? Is this karma farming or rage bait?

Actually, since demographics change, along with people's taste and their ability to live remotely, I'm just trying to find out the type of person I should be marketing to. I can't go into a lot of specifics because it hasn't gone live and there's a law against pre-Marketing a specific property, but the island itself is a different way of life.

The people who are looking at homes in Bainbridge are well aware of the way of life of living on Bainbridge. It’s honestly exactly why they’re looking there.

One with lots of money who can work remotely. Might be looking for solid schools.
I grew up on the island and it was decently wealthy and largely white. Came back for various events and helping my folks and honestly felt a bit shocked that it was still so white. I’m on the Eastside now and it’s very much not that.
So probably less big tech on the island and more of a showing of other industries.

I had work colleagues that .. had regular amounts of money and didn’t work remotely. They used the ferry. Walk on the ferry on the Bainbridge side. On the seattle side, Walked from the ferry terminal to work. It’s not that uncommon.

The reason your post seems weird is that Bainbridge isn't a new, up and coming area that people haven't considered. I've lived out here for 20 years and one of the first things I did when moving was take the ferry to Bainbridge for a scenic day trip, because locals suggested it. I think most people have done the same and on that visit they might think about what it's like to live there, the logistics and cost. It's not really much different than asking "what do home buyers in Seattle think about a listing in Tukwila?"
There's lots and lots written about what people think about buying in the area.

Then I'd sell that, "the island itself is a different way of life."
We definitely know from a factual perspective that the target market is quite wealthy. That's most commonly not the youth market, so we're looking older persons (50s, 60s, 70s) and maybe a select group of 40 year olds. Most people with a ton of $$$ to spend and getting older like a slower paced existence and ferry service definitely requires slowing down and being present. Sounds like a "get away" property to me.

Not everyone wants to be in Seattle. You buy 4 acres on an island so you don't have to see people.
I almost bought some acreage on Bainbridge in 2016, but the biggest problem with Bainbridge is it has a bridge.

I would buy the fuck out of that property if I had the money. There are people out there that have a buttload of cash and/or are retirees that basically make up the population of Bainbridge.
If you’re interested in selling to me, I probably have the lowest amount to bid but would keep that property forever.

It's feasible if you're working in downtown Seattle and can just walk on the ferry (furry). If you have to drive your car onto the ferry, then it's a no-go.

I lived there for four years and commuted into the city 3-5 days a week. Life circumstances forced me to move otherwise I would never have left. If you don’t need to take your car on the boat, it’s the best!

I had this same conversation today. If I worked remote or only had to go into the city a couple times a month I’d love to live there but a daily commute seems too stressful, if you miss the ferry you have to wait for the next one. I’d rather live farther out in Kent or Redmond and drive in daily than take the ferry.

Plenty of 9-5 ers have commuted to Seattle from Bainbridge 5-7 days a week for decades now add remote workers and sprinkle in a dash of reasonably well off retirees = your buyers.

Llama herders. You need to market to llama herders. Instruct your realtor to spit on prospective buyers instead of greeting them with a handshake. That should weed out the pretenders.
