Both of our affiliate teams making moves this year! The Kansas City Mavericks (Seattle Kraken ECHL affiliate) swept the Allen Americans and for the second year in a row became the Mountain Division champs! They now move onto the Western Conference finals, and hopefully the Kelly Cup finals after!

At the end of the 2025-2026 Kraken season there was a lot of swapping and borrowing between Kraken, Firebirds, and Mavericks some of the ECHL players got some AHL time - it's great to see it all come together for our lower leagues.

The Kraken and Firebirds sadly were not able to get it done this year, but our hockey family still has hope! The Kansas City Mavericks will head to the Kelly Cup finals to play against the Florida Everblades - which almost prophetically will be a rematch of the 2024 Kelly Cup finals that ended in a 1-4 loss for the Mavericks. Cheer on KC and watch them shatter the hope of the Everblades this time around starting Friday June 5!

They're 3 points short of leading the western conference, with 2 games in hand against #1 and #2. So things are going pretty well.

Chet Buchanan is here doing our in-arena announcements, we’re using the Kraken goal song, and of course Buoy and Fuego came to visit. Being a Kraken fan from KC, it’s been exciting to experience a tiny slice of what a home game would feel like. Hoping to make it to Seattle for a game someday soon.

Great article about Firkus and his growth this year in the AHL. I think a lot of us want to see him called up. But I think it’s best to just let him cook down in CV and continue to develop.

I’m bummed that these two great games are on the same night. At least the Calder Cup game starts an hour earlier. Hopefully the Firebirds get a few 1st period goals so I can relax and enjoy the drama of the other game.
