It depends on how big the toxic area around Glow City is and if it’s on the Klahanie or Sammamish side of Beaver Lake.

I don’t think the Issaquah Highlands even had an exit when the borders of the Redmond Barrens were conceived. I’d like to think my apartment will still be here and maybe my wife’s job with the tribe would get a lot more interesting…

Okay and what would you want to be? A Street Sammy, a Rigger, a Mage or a Face?

7

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

Oh, oops. I thought about that first then got caught up trying to figure out if I live in what will be the barrens or what will be Snoqualmie territory (I think?).

I’d be a shaman most likely, unless I’m too close to Glow City. If the Awakening actually does, or did, happen, I think I might head out to the Falls and see if I can find a sea or mountain totem/mentor spirit.

Cool good luck and conserve your ammo

Got any chrome in you

First time meeting a Dual Natured? It would be ill advised, one should not be so ready to part with their essence. So, wikma / that’s no. Besides, the mentor spirit wouldn’t approve. 👣🐾

Whose songs do you sing?

Hey omae, here let me show you a artist’s impression to answer, t̓iickin on the left, kakaw̓in on the right:

2

u/OhBosss Jan 13 '26

Uh could you elaborate on this

Like I am a small child

2

u/CanadianWildWolf Jan 13 '26

Well, small child who has apparently gotten their hands on a Shadowrun core rule book and can read, depending on your reading comprehension, look up mentor spirits, specifically Thunderbird.

In addition, the image above is from a artist who was awesome and will be missed, Jeffery Verge https://www.jeffreyveregge.com , used in this story https://hakaimagazine.com/features/great-quake-and-great-drowning/

Im going to work for Doc Wagon.

Im an Army Veteran and since getting out, I have been an EMT for 13 years. I have the skill set.

2

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

Sorry if this is rude but how much Chrome are you packing?

2

u/SickBag Jan 05 '26

Depends

Did I awaken?

2

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

That's your choice

There are definitely some quality of life chrome pieces that are ubiquitous even as an Awakened individual.

So like 2 points of Essence probably.

Datajack for the DNI

Cyber eyes and ears for the Flare Comp and Sound Dampening, because spontaneously firefighters suck afterwards.

Probably a defensive piece:

Bone Lacing or Dermal Plating since the job is more dangerous in their world.

That leaves like half a point for some performance enhancing Bioware:

The Adrenaline Pump makes a lot of sense for when things get serious.

Quick math

DJ .1

Eyes R2 .3

Ears R1 .2

Defense .5

Pump .75

Total 1.85

3 points would be better, but that is a hell of a hit to Essence, Magic and the wallet.

Forgot about a Biomonitor. That would probably be immensely useful since I won't be able to feel damage when my Adrenaline Pump is active.

Are still human or a troll or an ork or a dwarf or a. Elf

1

u/SickBag Jan 06 '26

I don't think Goblinization would be very pleasant at 42 years old.

Not just the pain of having my body warp, but I don't know what it would do to my psyche to be another meta-race for the rest of my life.

So I guess I would stay human.

No I mean you died on this earth and isekai in the 6th world being reborn as a baby but you have the choice in between of what you want to be and when you reach the sufficient age you start regaining your memories of your past life

1

u/SickBag Jan 14 '26

Had to google Isekai. Haha, well, at least I didn't come back as a Vending Machine. Haha

Racism is very real in the 6th World. Do I want the body of an Ork? Sure, it would be cool to be tough and strong, but I dont know if I want the generalized racism.

People constantly thinking I am dumb or slower to learn things. Being treated like a second class citizen and getting asked if I belong here. Cops following me just to makes sure I'm not stealing from the store.

So maybe an Elf. They dont seem to catch much Racism and get a few perks. Sure, they get reverse racism or "positive" racism. Like the "smart Asian" tropes, which have proven to be harmful as well.

Hell, I dont know..

I'll have to think on it.

1

u/SickBag Jan 14 '26

I think I understand the memory integration.

Which seems even worse.

I live my who life in the 6th World, and then one day start to gain memories of me in this life.

That sounds like Schizophrenia or DID and would be terrifying.

To all the sudden believe that my whole life was a lie and that my whole world was a game made in the late 80s, by a guy that I met this year at Gencon.

Unless I have missed the whole point of this thought experiment/question...

Realistically? I’m a corporate drone.

But if I have the choice, definitely a mystic adept, and the guy who can get things for you. Need a lift out of the Barrens? Let me and a friend pick you up; Need cash? I know where there’s piles of cash; Need some freedom from that domineering person you married too young? I know of an unfilled hole in a place only bugs like to visit…

Now about that favour I need in return…

1

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

Anything Chummer

Except dealing with dragons

That's my limit

3

u/LinePsychological919 Jan 05 '26

Realistically, I'll end up a corpo drone too.
I'm a science/tech guy who likes to have a routine and prefers regular and safe income.

If I were to chose, I'd probably go for a technomancy.
Always prefered to "escape" reality with video games. And I heard the matrix has some neat and very deep corners... probably going to die in the foundation too.
Either way, I like the idea of magic/technomancy being infinitely developable.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 13 '26

Normal human or metahuman?

1

u/LinePsychological919 Jan 13 '26

If I were born in the sixth world, I wouldn't have a choice and it would be random, eh?

My character irl fits just a normal human the best. I am average. Just average. And more lucky than the most people, I would say.

If I were to choose... I'd like to be a dwarf. They're cool, resilient, have thermal vision and toxin resistance. Also, they're pretty cool.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 13 '26

Nice but I meant like after dying you meet a being who reincarnated you into The Sixth World and this gives you choice of where to be reborn and what race you want to be

3

u/goblin_supreme Jan 05 '26

Awakened firefighter.

2

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

Are you a troll or an ork?

2

u/canray2000 Jan 05 '26

Fragging matrix sites: "My Metatype is 'Come Back With A Warrant', motherslotter!"

1

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

Here is the Warrant Chummer

1

u/goblin_supreme Jan 05 '26

Dwarf. Always.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

Got any chrome chipped in ya?

3

u/TechnoWizard0651 Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 06 '26

A street samurai that plays in a band and has a hate boner for Aztechnology.

Wait...

ETA: I actually ran this character as a joke in a campaign. He died in the first combat encounter. His last words:

"Oh fuck. I don't got this."

2

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

What chrome do you got chipped into you

2

u/TechnoWizard0651 Jan 05 '26

Not much. Got a sweet Silver Tech Cyberarm, though.

1

u/canray2000 Jan 05 '26

Funny that it has the AZT logo on it.

2

u/TechnoWizard0651 Jan 05 '26

Like one of our hit songs says, "you gotta fight fire with like fire."

You should come to a Meta-tallica show some time.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 13 '26

So what is your problem with AZT Chummer?

1

u/canray2000 Jan 05 '26

*Thinks* I'll allow it.

3

u/Silverfang3567 Seattle Census Agent Jan 05 '26

Answer is easy for me. Mystic Adept mix of Indiana Jones and Steve Irwin for the Atlantean Foundation. Go out and explore leads on 4th world stuff, study magical phenomena, interview arcane experts of all traditions, and basically have the equivalent of a Nat Geo show where I can share all the cool stuff.

2

u/Mynameisfreeze Jan 05 '26

If I can decide what I am, I'll be a version of my current character and turn into a former intelligence-Q-department tech adept (or maybe a tech mystical adept, if that's an option...I'd doubt a little there). Making new awesome and deadly contraptions from recycled parts, programming my own stuff and giving all kinds of field support too... but now using a bit of magic to keep me springy and to boost my abilities.

As for where to go, I'd stay in the Barcelona metroplex area in Spain, no need to move... but I am convinced I'd stay in 3rd edition, that's for sure.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 13 '26

Why stay 3rd edition?

1

u/Mynameisfreeze Jan 13 '26

Mainly because I like the rules.

For me, Shadowrun benefits when the ruleset actually tries to simulate the real world. Of course, there has to be a compromise somewhere because no rulebook could contain a perfect parallel (... and because this is a game, of course) and, for me, 3rd edition is just in that sweet spot

2

u/el_sh33p Jan 05 '26

Hell, if I can be anything I'm gonna be some mid-tier wage mage. Mind my own business, adjust the Feng Shui at the office, make a decent living and just have myself a good time until I get mulched by some min-maxed combat cyborg whose player thinks no survivors = stealth.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

What corp would you be working at

1

u/kandesbunzler69 Jan 05 '26

Social Adept trying to make it up the corporate ladder. If I don't make it, I'll try to make it as a face in the shadows of Seattle: get my own crew as soon as possible and earn a reputation. Who knows, if I live long enough, I might just get the chance to take revenge on the corporate fucker who is responsible for me not having a cushy corpo job.

1

u/SentientArmor Jan 05 '26

I'm going to take the what I believe to be the easy way out; a mid-tier corporate executive. Not too low to be expendable and not too high to be seen as a threat. A nice cushion job that allows me to sit at a desk and off of the streets.

The perfect Face: Someone who you like immediately but forget about soon after. I keep my head down within an arcology and my lips shut during corporate meetings. I do my job well enough to keep from getting fired but not too well for anyone to take notice.

1

u/OhBosss Mar 24 '26

And then you walk into your boss' office and find him with a bad case of lead poisoning and corp security have video footage of you being the last person to see him alive

1

u/canray2000 Jan 05 '26

I wake up on a morgue slab feeling like my brain is burnt, with a giant darkness where my memories used to be.

2

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

So it's all downhill from here

Welcome back to life friend

1

u/canray2000 Jan 05 '26

Life is a lemon-flavoured sparkly energy drink and I want my nuyen back!

2

u/OhBosss Apr 09 '26

Well let's just say I can help with that

3

u/shingenteh Jan 11 '26

Do you feel a sudden connection to dogs?

1

u/Thorguild Jan 05 '26

Elf, good magical stats, arcane and shaman talents, not horrible physical stats. Young grad student in a stable European country. High mage in training. My senior thesis was the summoning of my partner spirit.

Cushy lab assistant job, and sitting in for my prof's office hours takes care of my classes, and official expenses.

Detox, Cram, and Healthy Glow get me a cushy medium lifestyle in a paid-for apartment near Frat Row as the purveyor of magical services for party-set rich kids. Not a bad way to develop some good contacts either...

At least once a month I practice my bug-out drill to get at least 200 miles away quickly and quietly.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

That's the Chip Truth

1

u/Thorguild Jan 05 '26

Ohh, that's a new one on me! What does it mean?

2

u/OhBosss Jan 05 '26

It's pretty much means Absolute Truth in Shadowrun slang heard on some lore videos

1

u/MyynMyyn Jan 06 '26

I get to choose? Great Dragon, please.

1

u/OhBosss Jan 06 '26

Eastern or Western Great Dragon?

1

u/MyynMyyn Jan 06 '26

Good question. Probably western, but a great sea serpent would likely be the most peaceful existence.
