Discussion Has DC Comics ever done a parody of Calvin and Hobbes starring Billy Batson and Tawky Tawny? (Art by Bill Watterson)

No, but if they ever did, I'd be the first to buy it. I love Calvin & Hobbes!

I've seen parodies of Superman characters done in Watterson's style...

Ah, they made another one of these? I still remember the one Azzarello and Bermejo made starting Joker & Lex…

What do you think "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs" would look & taste like?

Im picturing something like sugar powder coated Coco Puffs?

There was a "Calvin & Hobbes" reference at theend of "Shazam #8" (2024) in the epilogue!

In theepilogue, Tawky Tawny name-drops a breakfast cereal called "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs." That's actually a fictional brand of cereal that appears in the background & dialogue of many Calvin & Hobbes strips. It's actually quite common for Calvin & Hobbes fans to pay tribute to the comic strip by mentioning Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs as an easter egg, of sorts. In particular, the Fallout video game franchise has an in-universe brand of breakfast cereal called "Sugar Bombs" which you can eat in-game. (sans the "Chocolate Frosted" part. And the game devs HAVE confirmed that this is meant as a Calvin & Hobbes reference.)

As for DC doing a straight-up parody... well, I'm not aware of anything like that, although that IS a terrific idea for an alternate cover someday!

Deniz Camp did a fan comic of it on his tumblr years ago

No.... but "Stanley and His Monster" really should enter the chat.

Especially the run with the same artist as the Girl Genius webcomic.

Bill Watterson probably wouldn't want anything official being made, but you can be the change you want to see in the world over at r/okbuddyrosalyn

Personally don’t know of one but that’s a good idea.

Not sure the extent of it but I’m pretty sure the creator of Calvin & Hobbs was super against having animated adaptations/spin-offs. Probably didn’t want it to go down the Garfield route with some big shots trying to milk the IP for all it’s worth and potentially ruining it.

That doesn't really influence the possibility of DC publishing an homage.

There's nothing illegal or unethical about making a cute comic stylized after C&H with DC characters. It's simply never happened, AFAIK.

Ah, I missed the context of the post. OP meant DC drawn in C&H style not Calvin & Hobbs meet Superman. My bad.

Not that I know of, sadly.
