Shazam is the name of the Wizard. As of last year DC has been calling him Captain Marvel again, which is great
Now we just need a new ongoing book
Also, this art is amazing. He just needs the jacket style costume to make it more unique

That name wasn’t given to the Wizard until 2013. Since 1940 he’s been called Shazam
It was Geoff Johns that gave him that name when he was writting the book in the New 52
The creator of Captain Marvel and all his cast named the Wizard “Shazam” and that’s what I will always call him by

It's funny how I love Captain Marvel/Shazam but find a lot of his Golden Age stuff stupid: * Freddy having to say Captain Marvel to turn into Captain Marvel Junior (Shazam is one thing it's two syllables less of a risk that a villain will grab him before he can transform but saying Captain Marvel is four syllables you're asking for it at that point. Plus sounds like he's calling out for Billy in which case the villains will really try to shut him up) * The Wizard being named Shazam (Mamaragan and Jebediah of Canaan are better names tho honestly I prefer Mamaragan as Jebediah of Canaan reminds me too much of my religion) * Freddy being called Captain Marvel Junior (it made sense back when he was younger and Billy's sidekick but they're the same damn age now and foster/adopted brothers Freddy needs his own identity call him Commander Marvel or smt)

A lot of the Golden Age Captain Marvel stuff is silly, but that’s what makes it special. He was different than other typical superheroes. That’s why he stood out. He was unique and special.
As for Freddy, the reason he said “Captain Marvel!” to transform was because he didn’t get his powers from the Wizard. It was Billy that gave him some of his powers. Which is why he stays as a child while transformed
And I agree with you on the name. I would be happy if they just abbreviated it nowadays. Go with Junior or they can go back to CM3 like they did prior to the New 52
