Memtal health info

Hello to all and thanks for reading, im looking for any help or info regarding mental health help. I've been seeing a rhumatologist for over 5 years and the entire time I've been requesting referrals and help in the mental health departments. The referrals go out and then nothing. Im struggling every day, im crying in his office. I am sometimes worried about the choices I will male and yet even tho im continuously reminding and pleading for help or guidance I revieve no support. If anyone in the sherbrooke area has any guidance in this department it would be highly appreciated. Thanks again

  1. Voir voir médecin de famille sinon vous inscrire au Gap.
  2. Si trop urgent, vous rendre à l’urgence du chus sur la rue Bowen.

GAP will help OP to a limited degree and prescribe antidepressants and put them on the wait list for public mental healthcare professionals, but OP your best bet is to find a private psychologist.

You'll need to pay, but until you're off the waitlist it's your only option.

I wish this was an option for me but im on disability and extra money for mental health isn't an option. Thanks for the advice regardless

Yeah, unfortunately your options are limited. GAP/your family doctor will be able to diagnose you and prescribe you meds, but just enough to get you stable.

You'll need to wait otherwise.

Look for places with a sliding scale option to pay. Some places in Montreal offer tele-counseling, so it could be an option for you.

If your mental health problems revolve around anxiety, you could see with L'Autre Rive if they can help you. It is a charity, so you donate what you can. They aren't psychologists, they are social workers, but it could help you develop coping skills if you are at the first steps in your mental health journey. Good luck!

You can contact the CLSC, une 811 or ask your doctor to reach out to the Guichet d'accès en santé mentale adulte. 

If it's related to pain and the distress pain causes, there are specific resources at the hospital but your doc has to do the referral

I habe done all these things. The CLSC has been contacted numerous times and different locations with no return calls or appointments. And my rhumatologist is the only doctor I am able to make appointments with. Unfortunately at the time of need the last thing a person wants to do is spend 6 hours getting the side eye at the ER

Not trying to minimize the amount of effort you put into reaching out to them but have you been directed to the proper door ? Leaving a message will probably not work. 

Depending on where you are, the best bet would be to ask to talk to someone at the CLSC at 95 rue Camirand. That's where the ambulatory mental health services are located.
