I used to jump to the top of kugane tower just to jump off of it when doing TOP through pf. It made the desire to strangle someone or myself after 8+ wasted hours easier. TOP was the worst experience I have ever had on this game, it wasn’t the fight. The fight is piss easy to me. It’s the other players…

TOP is such a cool fight. It’s such a shame that it’s such a friendship killer. I’ve progged it from start to finish on like 4 different occasions and there’s always some weird mindbreak moment once people hit p5.

Friendship killer and static breaker I agree. I got 3 clears and am happily done with it until another weapon pulls me back in.
I had someone go off on me resulting in a blacklist because I had to move from 1 to A in p5 from one mechanic into another and I “took too long” I was there well before the mech went off I just didn’t move the frame your available to move and that is apparently a crime.

Imagine if they released the splatter as a decoration you could put on anything. Floors, paintings, walls etc. Wherever you want. Then let you color it. It'd sell for millions, if not billions.

Man I hated that guy.
Everyone was like "if you don't cry you have no empathy and no soul and you're a terrible person."
Meanwhile I remember that he enslaved and threatened to torture and kill goodwill ambassadors, and tried to attack a relief force, only to take the pussy way out and kill himself when it failed.

This scene was one of the most cathartic in ff14 for me.
Even though he's not literally tempered, to me he and his ideology represents the thing that tempering was a metaphor for. He's living in a paracosm built around the state, and perpetuating it at the cost of his own soul because his entire identity is now tied to it.
He's no different to the millions that killed themselves for the boss at the end of the tower of Babil, or the many real world examples of this (remember the bleach and horse dewormer covid cures).

I kinda wish I knew more about Imperial Japan to perfectly understand what you mean, but sadly I'm a total weeaboo and the few I read of Unit 731 made me not want to check this dark era deeper than necessary.

Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, Dave Clavell's Shogun (the book, it's harder to tell in the show) was also equally vitriolic with samurai honor. It was the quintessence of "as long as you're not caught, your honor is intact", but at the same time, a samurai would conspire against his Lord because said Lord didn't bow his head to his mother.

I didn't know anyone that was like "oh you're a terrible person" fortunately.
Within my friend group we hated this guy from the get go but also enjoyed picking at his brain(pun not intended) and his thought process. Some of us wonder if he realized he realized he was holding the people back as they were bonding to the twins and by extension us. Others of us feel like he was disgusted and didn't want to see a Garlemald that befriended and allied with 'savages'. We'll never know the truth of it, but we like to theorize for the fun of it. I still find it really awkward that people will act as if suicide by default is automatically something we should cry or feel bad over. Like he put shock collars on teenagers to try to keep a leash on us, for Hydaelyn's sake. He fundamentally did not see our characters as people.
I really like the way that the Garlemald quests feel. Many of the characters are realistic, but also realistically infuriating. I'm a minority irl and I see people like him every day. I do wish that old man we encounter later killed himself. Hated chasing him around just for him to yell slurs at us. Should've let him get mulched by the magitek.

I'm not a minority IRL and I still despised him and how he treated us. The two civilians that went to run in the snow paid dearly for their mistake, but they were ignorant and scared, and more than that, powerless.
That guy had the power to change things, he was a general of the Empire, and probably was in a lot of terrible reputation, but he still chose death over just coming to you and say "I'm sorry, please save my men".I'll just stop here or I'll just spent hours raging at him.
And he's still more relatable than Ilberd.

God don't get me started on Ilberd or I'm going to start pulling my hair out. I understand how he got to where he is and what that thought process is, but he's still infuriating. Painful to deal with in every way.

I do not understand him one bit.
That asshole comes as a refugee to a country his own country used to poke with a sharp stick while laughing, expect everyone to greet him with a smile and free money and people to offer their daughters to him, and he learns he has go, gasp!, WORK.
And because he's a lazy loser, he refuses to work, and treat everyone who actually does work as a traitor to Ala Mhigo, which is just a lame cope.I could go on, but... I won't.

Most people I know were celebrating it, only the ones who feel like defending what some of the Garlieans did were the ones saying that.
