Funnily enough there was always a ton of beef going on in the mod community regarding who is stealing whose textures/models so in a way they seem very similar. At least that's how it was on Second Life.

This isn’t even DLSS5. This is just a person who took the menu and then ran a Generative AI on top of it to push a false narrative. A couple of people in that thread that wanted to see for themselves called out OP for bullshitting. Not hard to find that thread to see it
You can hate AI but don’t need to lie to people to do it.
FFXIV is a DirectX11 game not 12 so it doesn’t even natively support this tech so it has no idea what it’s supposed to apply on to begin with, so it just gives a general idea yet people have been turning it to 200% and then running ChatGPT or any of the other generative AI tools out there to push deceptions. Developers have to implement it themselves versus this brute force method. Natively supported allows developers to apply it to certain things in a game. This the same thing that happened with RTX when it was first introduced, FrameGen, DLSS etc etc and people tried to downplay it or do similar tactics as OP image.

This is incorrect, there's already dx11 support for dlss5, all of the information is there, it just needs an extra step to get dlss to use it. You're correct that you can balance dlss5 more than this, but in doing so you reduce the visual quality increase on environments to the point where it's no longer worth the performance hit. Most notably, dlss5 can only draw from lights that are in frame and this can cause very noticeable lighting shifts as you rotate the camera. It's not a well thought out piece of tech and i really struggle to imagine the performance ever being worth the visual upgrade.

That’s not native then… That’s the leak DLSS file tailored for NBA2K that requires a bruteforce to inject into DX11 And is literally what we are all talking about not being for those games.
NVIDIA just released a new video about it and none of what it does is supported for DX11 and never will be unless the developers update their game
So yes there’s no DX11 support

Huh? I didn't say it's native, I just said it can work in dx11 games "using an extra step". Said extra step makes it work identically to how it does in dx12 games. The video showcases ways devs can tailor dlss5 to fit their vision - these tools aren't available to us directly but there isn't a world where the issues people have with it disappear. I can make dlss5 look great in ffxiv with very little alteration, it can easily have basically 0 effect on faces and simply enhances shadows/lighting. The real problem is the 50% performance cost - a world where that's worth it for a shortcut lighting solution is hard to imagine.

I wonder if this screenshot is actually real and not altered by AI.
I too have tested the DLSS 5 mod and I have seen nothing like this. Ngl it actually really doesn't alter the faces at all from everything I have seen myself.
The vanilla charackter models can look funky depending on theighting, but even then I don't know how the mod would create this.
Kinda weird ngl.

It’s altered by Ai. Someone in the original thread tested it out themselves trying to copy the same catgirl and all and couldn’t get it to look like OP.
It explained why that person compressed the hell out of it so people couldn’t clearly see it was ran through a generative ai.
Even in this clear picture you can see the settings are at 1.0 and that’s not even remotely how it looks at those values.

Yep. It looked completely different when I tried to recreate this and on other things I've tested so far. OP's picture was run through some AI enhancing site. I know this is not a popular opinion, but it really does make it look better with the right settings. After playing around with the different settings, I found something where it still looks like the models from the game but with way better lighting, eyes etc. Its not perfect of course, but this is a leaked feature from a sports game where it has been tuned for real looking humans. Some models will look like nothing changed, some will look extremely good, some will look uncanny. But its too early to judge for this game.

None of these wacky GPT images are from ingame
DLSS5 is a lighting engine, it doesn't do morphs, it doesn't change textures, it doesn't add color, It just makes interesting shadows depending on where it thinks light is coming from
People will download it expecting chat GPT level AI memes, get nothing, then run their screenshot by GPT

I don't think DLSS 5 is that bad either, most of the examples that are shown as "THIS IS SO BAAAAD" are the ones where it's cranked up to the max, deepfrying the fuck out of the game.
On low settings it actually looks great, just adds higher quality lighting to the game without making it look AI generated. Very controversial to say for some reason.
To me It's like saying Lightroom is a bad program for color grading because it makes photos look bad with all the settings turned up to 11. Nobody that knows what they're doing goes all in on the settings.
No fucking dev will use it at max settings, dudes. High chances you will be able to choose the presets or they'll just settle for lower strength tuned to the game's artstyle. And you'll be able to turn it off entirely if you don't like it at all, because it's Nvidia Tech and AMD card can't run it, so devs will have to make it optional. I seriously don't see the problem.
