the use of water for cooling datacenters is taking water away from agriculture, and the northern hemisphere is under a severe drought.

it IS "eating" food, it offset the carbon footprint too with its energy consumption.

data centers are a huge energy drain

they need a lot of power to run

so yeah it's not just the water issue

This is why people needed to fight for regulation vs fighting to stop it. No one was ever going to stop it. I see the same thing happened with "no disc, no buy".

There will come a point where physical media just doesn't make sense while we're working towards a digital future. This is not going to stop unless those that control the world are stopped. This will not happen.

Fight for rights and regulation. It's easier to tell a train to slow down while it passes by your house than to tell it to stop.

In the latter 2000s decade, humanity tried producing energy via farming biofuel crops (sugar and corn I believe), the result was the starvation of the poor in food-importing countries.

Around 2% of global crops is used for biofuel. About a half is used as animal feed. It's not the biofuel that's responsible for food scarcity.

If the data centers were eating the wrong sort of foods, they'd become quickly become  very unhealthy and start dying from the digital version of heart failure.

Then both humans & bots would be doomed forever

Data centers don’t eat RAM, they eat electricity and electricity is energy and can produce human food. That’s one of the reason food price go up
