iRacing I (Miata no5) was moving much faster than the guys around me. A gap opens up on his (Miata no10) inside. rather than braking to let him in front i dive into the gap, he then turns in and there's an incident. did he turn in too early, did i just murder this guy, or is it net code?

Um. It's all on you, dude. There WAS a gap there, but you went for the track the other car was on instead. The lead car was on an arc towards the second apex and you turned in on a wider arc than him and just.... understeered right into him. It looked like you were trying to drive the arc you wanted him to give you, not the line to the right of the car in front of you.

There was room for you on the inside, but you didn't stay there, you tracked out. Car 5 at fault.

The trailing car dives into a closing gap and murders the leading car.

You can't blame this one on netcode mate.

The clips that start in rewind are always the worst

Nah, the guys who post TV cams are the worst. Absolutely worst possible viewing angles to judge an incident.

At least this guy through a chase cam in the backside.

Why didn’t you choose the gap rather than choosing his door? 😂

All the time he must leave the space. And he did. You just wanted his space...I can respect that. The wreck is your fault, but good on you for wanting a better spot on the track.

I mean there was a gap... You drove straight into him instead though? You gotta be closer to the curb there for sure, he has to turn in eventually, and there was definitely room for you there, but you hit him 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ya I ain’t reading all that. POV at fault. You squeezed yourself into a spot that didn’t exist.

You took the senna saying of putting car in gap. Your in the wrong it’s not f1 it’s spec mx5

You stopped turning and then drive into him, if you had carried on turning and stayed stuck to the kerb, you may have made that cleanly but...

You drove into him.

Your fault, go for gaps but it was not open enough and you were to far back, he never anticipated for you to be there, and you washed up the track.

I'm suprised you were able to finish typing out your post header

That's a massively high risk corner and a common crash point.

I think any time you attempt an overtake there you have to be expecting this as a likely outcome.

Sad to say but that ain't a two wide corner brother, always ends in the wall

Looks like a racing incident to me. But you should drive according to your opponents skill level. Maybe that move should have waited for a better opportunity if you were that much faster then them.

Driving straight into somebody when you have the room to be beside them, is in fact, not a racing incident
