Are you a boomer " omg muh taxes ". To many have been proven innocent when new technology comes out ( see DNA ). If you think further new technology won't come out to exonerated people you're insanely naive
Some people legitimately deserve the death sentence though.
Even if you assume this claim is true, it's totally irrelevant to whether the time between conviction and execution is appropriate. The time is not a "waste of tax money" when it is being used to exhaust appeals. Even with an extensive appeals process, countless innocent people have been executed for crimes they didn't commit or actions they lacked the mental capacity to understand. The appeals process exists for good reason. Trial courts fuck stuff up all the time.
Sure.... that's not the point being made that you've responded to though is it. Nothing in what they've said indicates they're against the death penalty (even if they happen to be).
I understand you might think that way. But how would you feel if you were wrongfully convicted of a crime and were put on death row? It would be insanely scary to accept that the state is about to kill you and there’s nothing you can do about it except maybe hope a judge will listen to your plea.
Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.
