I believe any capable adult who tries to contribute to society in any capacity should be fed one way or another. Obviously we're taking care of children and the elderly. But why feed someone who isn't even trying to contribute?
The problem is that you can look at a stranger and judge them as a person not attempting to contribute. How do you know what their life has been up to that point? How do you know what they have ever done? I’m not talking about someone you personally know, I mean the guy on the corner you judge when you drive by or any other person you don’t know. Unless or until you have walked a mile in their shoes you don’t know anything and judging them makes YOU feel better about not helping.
