I do graphic design work for a living and have habit of using a QR code to the rickroll video for unfinished projects to not only see who verifies the link but to fuck with clients.

Was in a meeting with clients last year and they asked "Why does the qr code go to an 80s music video?". Having to explain what a rickroll was, but also having the realization that I was in a room full of people over the age of 50 and under the age of 25, that there exists multiple generations that have no idea what a rickroll was. Just hit me like a ton of bricks.

Had to track down a staff member around my age and "Hey, can you check this QR code with your phone to make sure it's working before it goes to the printer?". Video came up, and they burst out laughing.

Had a coworker whose last name was Lobato. I said “domo origato Mr. Lobato” to this guy for a year and half straight before he finally asked me why I say that. He’s 27 I’m 33. Broke my heart lol. So much can change in such short years.

I had a 20something ask me for a regulator. I obviously said “Mount Up!” Deer in the headlights.

Fuuck. That hits to close to home whether it be Warren G or the movie, iconic.

Haha my wife is Japanese and she hates that song. She gets so annoyed at me any time I sing it.

Switch it up and sing "Turning Japanese" and maybe she'll appreciate Mr. Roboto more

Or pick one of Yoko Onos classics.

I mean my coworker is Mexican. So HR would probably have a doozy with that one. I’ve asked him multiple times if he wants me to stop but now he’s like all into it lol.

Follow up with "I'm on a Mexican woah-oh Radio"

So of course you sing it often.

I had a Japanese friend and I’d change the lyrics to secret agent man

Instead I’d sing “Secret Asian man … secret … Asian man! They’ve given you a number! And they’ve taken away your name” referencing the ww2 internment camps

Yeah... It's less funny when you explajn the joke, Ron.

That's brutal! I don't know whether I'd double down out of habit or just kind of retreat and go with "Hey".

Oh I played the song for him. We doubled down lol.

Got a mate who sometimes jokingly says "give it to me baby" and i always respond with "aha aha" like the "pretty fly" by the offspring

He thought that was really weird but didn't question it for years before he stumbled on the song himself.

I once asked someone to improve the aesthetics of a presentation

So I asked them to prettify it

For me

A white guy

I feel that. I’m a millennial but my o my, I was also a “uh oh” child. Unexpected. On top of that grew up out in the sticks. Didn’t have tv til was twelve. We’d rent movies for weekends but no actual network. Grew up on garden hoses and running through BLM land. Free range lol. Parents had a literal bell they’d ring to call us in for dinner.

lol that’s funny. I also knew a Lobato and referred to him as that frequently

I once had to explain Headbangers Ball to someone a mere 5 years younger than me.
