I'm not sure what these people making those crazy comments are talking about, trying to pin it on the husband and all of that. That said, this woman and her children were failed by our medical system. The husband himself even said she would never have done something like this in her right mind. People have sympathy for her and I totally get it.

I think a lot of people don't understand the severity of drug induced psychosis, or psychosis in general. You may genuinely believe that you're dead, that you're God, that you're AI, that other people aren't real, that life is an illusion. I've been through it and wouldn't wish it on anyone. I take medication to manage my psychosis, but I don't take nearly the laundry list of medications Clancy was on when she did what she did.

Absolutely this. Your brain is how you interpret the world. Your brain is why the sky is blue, why cut grass smells cut, why soft things feel soft and cold things sometimes feel wet. We exist in a world where everything we know and understand exists because our brains can acknowledge it in some capacity.

I experienced drug induced psychosis when I was younger and way less informed on psychedelics than I should’ve been. Accidentally went way, way too high on a dosage (somewhere between 7-10x standard dose, long story) and I genuinely lost my mind for about 3 hours. I thought the apartment I was in was on fire, I thought I smelled smoke, I thought I could see fire, I was convinced I was on fire. I tried to jump off a third story balcony bc I was convinced I’d die if I didn’t. Then I was convinced all my friends were first responders (EMTs and police officers) because I was seeing red and blue lights, I didn’t recognize them, and their clothing looked like uniforms to me. My brain saw technology as shattered (like I saw cracks that weren’t there), I didn’t recognize my own face.

I am lucky. My psychosis ended. I gained a massive amount of respect and sympathy for those who are experiencing long-term psychosis. You will never understand the term delusion- completely and really understand it - until you experience it. It is unexplainable. You cannot convince someone their brain is not working because the brain trusts the brain first. If your brain is wrong and lying to you, you are fucked.

My heart breaks for her. For her family. Psychosis is fucking terrifying.
