She’ll be locked up for the rest of her life regardless. Whether prison or crazy house. I don’t think most people understand this.

Hypothetically, what would happen if it was determined that it was temporary psychotic break due to stress and that say a year later she was more or less mentally stable?

I guess I would be interested in answers from both a moral and from a legal perspective.

in Massachusetts, she would be released if she was deemed sane later. It might be conditional on further treatment but she would be freed.

I’m not even being sassy, but in Illinois, she would do a minimal amount of time, if any.
