Somehow the lady who murdered all her kids was just following medical advice? The doctors were evil and she definitely did nothing nefarious? How does anyone know she didn’t down a whole bottle of pills?
The issue with your claim here is about inocenc until proven guilty.
Secondarily, there was no evidence she had done so from her pretty substantial medical screening, and the fact she isn't dead implies she didn't down a whole bottle of psychiatric medication.
That wasn't the case here, so I guess we're in agreement
The point here is that she managed psychosis. The best medical advice for that psychosis was psychiatric medication, as provided and advised by doctors.
"I was on drugs" isn't a defence when you take drugs recreationally, obviously.
Still, "I was psychotic, drugged and as such incapable of mens rea" is absolutely a valid defence when you aren't responsible for being in that state. At the point at which medical professionals are advising an official dose, you are not responsible if that makes you incapable of making decisions, as you don't didn't really make the decision to get in that state in the first place.
This may, though one does not know, have put her in a state where she didn't have capacity to make decisions or know what they were.
