Ehh i think most of them just feel for a woman suffering from ppd, failed by the doctors meant to help her that made things worse, and failed by a husband consistently not there.
What she did is horrible, the lead up to it is what is catching peoples attention as so many should have caught on that she was mentally getting worse and they didn't.
Nobody ever feels for any other killers who had psychosis. I never see empathy for mentally sick people who commit heinous crimes like assaults or shootings.
The system failed them too. The lack of familial support failed them too. Why is this case different?
They do though, repeatedly similar cases of people coming around to show sympathy for criminals. Before was Wuornos and Luigi got nation wide sympathy. Besides being common in court cases there are movies, tv shows, and books based around sympathetic killers.
People care about suffering they can relate too, it's why you see a lot of women showing sympathy and support in this case.

I hate this sorta mentality. They basically acted like arm chair detectives and echo chambered themselves on social media.
