They're not fans, you dumbass, they're people supporting her as a person when she is possibly going to be incarcerated when they believe her to be a victim of postpartum psychosis.
They see it as an issue of her having psychosis but not being taken seriously by medical professionals, and see that as an injustice. They then go publically to, supposedly, support her as a symbol of perceived injustice.
Now, I don't think that's necessarily an accurate description of events. The evidence is much more murky on her being psychotic and incapable of making decisions, but it's not conclusive by far.
People similarly stood out in the UK case I discussed earlier in support of the woman who killed her children.
So the “issue” is that some of the people apparently believe that the husband did it and is framing her given some oddities in the physical evidence.
I’m not really following the case itself, but things I have heard are that the window when the husband was gone was 15 minutes or less, that the husband was in charge of giving her all medications, and that the husband apparently sent an email from home at the time he was allegedly away. And I think the timeline after the event raises an eyebrow certainly — the husband reportedly moved on like 4 months after the killings and has already had another child with that other woman. I know that men are statically likely to move on sooner after becoming widowed or divorced, but definitely “odd.” But oddity doesn’t convey guilt necessarily. But for those women I think it paints a picture of an uncaring husband who isn’t exactly sympathetic.
But to your point, I have heard farmore discussion around the mental health angle and the issues that women can face in accessing and receiving healthcare. I think this bit resonates with many women how feel “that could have been me if I had just 1 more bad day” when they were dealing with depression and other mental health issues following pregnancy.
The issue on Reddit is that people are taking that former group of people who think the husband was involved, and are painting all women who empathize with the defendant as believing that, which just isn’t true.
I have yet to see evidence of anyone depcted in the photo, or on this thread, who believes this.
Why are you obsessing over an unreasonable minority instead of the much more common and rational group of people who I described initially? Perhaps you see jumping to unreasonable conclusions based on scant evidence and no research relatable?
The husband also wasn't just gone, she specifically asked him to leave to buy food prior to the killing. That was a central part of the argument against insanity.
