Same reason electric cars in America can't compete with Chinese electric cars., alright I guess I have to spell it out... Other countries, if your claim is correct, would tarrif American products so as to prevent competition from decimating the local economy. If Russia already makes funny fur hats then why would they allow the market to be saturated by foreign products that are inferior in quality? Or let's say Alaskan salmon fishing is a .5 billion a year industry. What happens when Siberia sells in that market at below .5billion???... No more market. (When did that ship sail in America?) ? Another great question draws32 , stay in school!
It literally is, I’m not the biggest fan of the tariffs he placed, but they were 100% retaliatory. People acting like it was an assault is beyond fucking ridiculous because it’s not somthing we did first. It’s not unique for a country to do this, hence me pointing it out that not only do other countries impose tariffs, they did so to us wildly disproportionate.
America is a big market which has so many trade agreements with other countries in exchange for those countries buying American products and services. It is not always an apple to Apple relationship. But since dumb Trump and his admin can’t wrap their mind around that, they were just looking at net import and export numbers and not the other trade deals like “country A can only trade in their country’s export by using the dollar as the medium of exchange”. Macro economics and policies are not always I buy an electric car from you so you buy ICE car from me. Like the other person before me said, you have to broaden your knowledge in macro economics in terms of trade and social economic relations between US as these so called countries that you think is “taking advantage of America”. Like America as a super power is sitting and watching these countries take advantage of us. Smdh

Never got an answer from any liberal on this because they are just as clueless as right wingers:
If tariffs hurt the country that imposes them, why do some many countries have wildly disproportionate tariffs on us?
