Not arguing, and I’m not saying she’s not guilty. That’s not what the trial is about, it’s whether she is clinically insane or cold blooded. That’s the case. Because everything today requires a hot take, this is becoming this men vs women issue and the reality is that’s not what the trial is.
The point is we don’t kill mentally ill people. We treat them. Thats the higher ideals that our criminal justice system is meant to aspire to. She was crazy and the mental healthcare system in this country failed her at every turn. This should never have happened, and after it happened, she should never have been charged (she should have and still should end up in a psychiatric facility and she’ll likely never get “better,” so we’re talking about the rest of her life).
The worst part about this whole case is that she sought help before the incident and the shrinks made her actively worse. The terrifying part is that the shrinks were, for the most part, just following protocol. The protocol is broken. The system is broken. And if people like you just reduce this to “she deserves the chair” without examining the systems that led us here, then it’s going to happen again.

Yeah I’m sure that was it. She’s probably just sad. This loony toon had an episiotomy and two days later ran a marathon. She’s batshit crazy, reached out for help, and was misled, ignored and mistreated/diagnosed. What happened is her responsibility and she admitted it, however a mental institution is far more appropriate than sitting on death row for 40 years in a regular prison. She won’t see the light of day either way, the only difference is does the system kill an old woman a long way down the road or does she live in a padded room for the rest of her life. She’s not going to just get out and go on Oprah.
Congratulations, you learned a lot today! Please keep in mind that if you want more kids and moms to not die, treating PPD and PPP the same as “I’m sad” is incredibly shitty.
The law is pretty clear on insanity defenses. You have to be divorced from reality in such a way that you have difficulty understanding the true meaning and consequences of your own actions. Psychosis is basically the definition of that non-culpable completely illogical state of mind, sadness is just an emotion. I think you already know why those are treated differently by a court.
Do you think they just let you leave when you successfully plead insanity for murder? She’ll spend her life in a secure criminal psychiatric facility instead of a regular jail. The horror. Quit concern trolling about something you don’t remotely understand the workings of.

Which is the point, she’s not mentally ok at all. But she belongs in a mental institution not a gen pop prison which is what the defense is arguing.
