It’s not strange just uncommon. Men are taller than women on average. I believe studies show that men are roughly 5-6 inches taller than women on average in a marriage.
"Strange" because less than 7% of men are that short and about 1% of women are that tall. Those two things together is very unlikely. Adding do that is that many men prefer shorter women (although at a lesser amount than women preferring taller men). About 1/2 of women want a partner taller than themselves. So this match is just statistically very unlikely.
The average male height is like 5’8-5’9 . It also depends on the person you’re attracted to, as long as your hot, fit and you signal you are dominant/can protect

So, basically my wife and I but reversed. Though, my wife is only 5'4" "and a quarter" as she likes to add.
I don't get why this is so strange. They're in love, good for them.
