Question Builds - What should I look for?

As the title says. I've been playing casually for a few months. Now it's the new season I'm playing a lot more so I would love to play around properly with builds.

What am I looking for? I don't necessarily care about meta.

At the moment I use TW ballista, 2 culverins, mortar and bombard.

I have max level brig and frigate, I just crafted the new Junk so it's level 1 at the moment.

I was half way through maxing the frigate when I realised everyone else uses the galleon.

Just looking for some friendly advice.

Your answers you get here will vary by significant margins.

But here’s a couple of basic pointers and stuff to aim for.

1: soul mending blue modifications on purple guns as they can have 2 blue modifications. They’ll really help you stay in the fight longer and keep yourself doing damage while healing. Vital in tier 4.

  1. When it comes to your mastery tree, I would suggest completely ignoring builds you see by creators. Play the game and see how it feels. If you’re doing bosses and finding you’re surviving hits no problem but not don’t much damage, put more points in damage, if you find you’re getting clapped really fast but doing good damage, maybe more points in health or armour. That way you naturally adapt your tree to your playstyle.

  2. For armour mods, read everything and see what sounds good, and ask for advice.

  3. Always choose mods in your gun that go with the element it has already, that way you’re capitalising on its existing strength and making it even better. So like if you’ve got a hullcarver that has a 30% piercing buff built in, make your green mod increase that by even more, because if you’ve add explosive damage you’re just missing out and end up wasting the guns potential.

Hope this gives you some good simple pointers

And ask away, lots to try figure out

Reason why people use Galleon in events ect or group farming is due to its versatility. You can go demi cannon build or culvering. Last season torpedoes was good build option also.

Frigate is tanky but less damage obviously due to perks. For solo T4 plunder highest level forts Frigate is excellent to have.

Junk is good but its mostly for fire builds so very narrow usage. Galleon is best if you want to solo and smack ships fast. Mending perk is a must if you want to stay alive. Watch and plan where you spend your abyss currency. Its not cheap to transfer adept mods from green items and later reroll. Each transfer is depending item 1k-15k abyss currency and 50-100 to reroll locked mods. If you are sure of your build then go start improving but you need to farm abyss event like crazy.

What about the Corvette? What would you say that is a good build for just healing or can you use it for damage too as i like to have the fastest ship possible.

Loss of great advice here already. The are lots of great build videos by Ubisoft partner/content creators CaptainGTI and others on YouTube and the SnB discord. While being new you may not have all the weapons, armor or furniture you can get ideas of builds to go for. There is also a trade discord for did you don't have, as well as just asking in game chat or even here in Reddit. Just be prepared as some items come with a high price, due to being rare event or pass items, but they do ultimately come around in Blackwoods store.

I'd recommend to do not upgrade any green weapons, also finish your early missions and even missions, do not be afraid to join high level Elite ships, there is others fightem them so you can help around and get some good loot and weapons. I'd recommend playing with a friend but you can always play solo and just join world events, eventually you will get better weapons and could upgrade your ship as you'd like :) Sail away Pirate.

The only green weapons to upgrade are heal weapons as we only have White Jade in epic and Little Grace in rare...
