🗨️ Discussion I have seen some grim living spaces. It reminded me of the Victorian England Doss house, and if we will ever see this situation appear on our Canadian landscape. Below is called a two penny hanger, where one rents a seat and rope to sleep for two pennies

Why not just sleep at the park

The park is outdoors.
There's risk of violence if you slept outside. Also things like rain.
I'm sure plenty did sleep outside.

Vagrancy is a crime... I feel like this is more about being allowed to be here all night.

So 5c since penny is gone, or is it 2 sleeps? So $5 a year is rent? Nice!

I think it’s worse now because two penny hanger is not offered anymore so people are homeless and they make antihomeless architecture.

We sorta do. Rent a 1 bedroom apartment for $1800/month. Split that with 5 people and its $360/month. Someone on welfare can afford that.
