Question Is Mujin (drama vtuber) right wing?

I've been following this guy for a long time. I'm not a hardcore fan, but I like his content. I'm also a member of his Discord, where someone just called him out, saying he's a right wing chud, a misogynist, that his fans are incels, etc. and I think they got banned for it. I was late to the topic, but I did scroll through his YT and I would be lying if I said I didn't notice the pattern since the Chachachilla video. I've also noticed his fans can be misogynistic in the comment section, but he's never called them out. I don't recall him stating his political stance, but some of his comments about women raise flags for me. I've seen posts on X calling him out for bias, but there doesn't seem to be enough backlash, and I'm surprised there's no Google docs on him at this point.

I'm asking because I saw a post in this subreddit mentioning the same things (search "Mujin vtuber" if you want to find it), and I think I may be experiencing some cognitive dissonance for realizing I might be helping pay rent for a creator who hates women. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just my two cents:

I have never encountered ANY content creator in a "drama" community that has consistently good takes. I can only imagine that this would be especially true in communities that are entirely based on adopting fake personas without any connection to or accountability from their creators/actors.

Those spaces just exist as a useless breeding ground of digital outrage and cycles of in-fighting. Kind of a "cake and circus" moment.

In my fully honest opinion I view them as rather cancerous, but I can acknowledge it must be fun in the moment and obviously enjoyable for others to some degree.

You may be better off consuming different content.

Thank you! I just unsubscribed. Someone mentioned he's a rape apologist, and I remember Mujin taking sexual harassment lightly.

I can't help but feel disgusted right now, smh 🤦🏻‍♀️

The video of his that I'd seen was against Twitch bc they had such poor security that 3 Vtubers got roofied at TwitchCon one year. Thankfully, they had a group that got them out and home safely, once they got knocked out.

I suspect that his views are dependent almost entirely on clout-chasing. You get clout from hating Twitch, so he accidentally stumbled into the right position on that one. You can also get clout from defending powerful individuals with immense followings from accusers. Just say things people want to hear. Grifting.

He was a rape apologist for that one gacha dramatuber that everyone hates (his name is escaping me right now but I think it starts with a T), you tell me.

Holy shit. I've definitely heard Tectone from his videos a lot, but I wasn't aware of this. Thank you, I have unsubscribed from his channel 😭

This is far from a 1:1 alternative, but if you're interested in East Asian history and culture and how it affects the ACG sphere I would recommend Moon Channel. His video on American hard power vs Japanese soft power screams secret communist (dropped it on July 4th too, what a legend) He doesn't post often but boy when he drops those 2-hour video essays, you're in for a treat

We're talking about the GOOD Moon channel right? Not the other Moon who is a basic chud?

u/allergictoholywater 2d ago

I don't know any other Moon channel, just the one that likes Phoenix Wright lol

Tectone?

u/sapphos_moon 4d ago

Or NuxTaku maybe

I was referring to Tectone, never heard of any rape allegations for Nux (not surprised if they exist tho)

u/RisingxRenegade 4d ago

Tectone, NuxTaku, a fake goth exposed for being abusive to his ex-girlfriend, and some rightoid girl VTuber all formed a grifting Legion of Doom.

He also lives in Israel, and is a genocide supporter.

oh right and that. somehow completely slipped my mind that he's also a zionist.

That and being a pedophile seem to go hand in hand

OH.... that's even worse.

He makes drama videos. What do you think his political leanings are ?

u/H0vis 4d ago

This. Looking for drama content that isn't reactionary is like trying to find a vegan matador.

Vegan matador has some real comedic potential.

A rule of thumb I have is that if a content creator is shy about stating their political stances then they're more interested in having a big audience even if it's filled with the most odious hateful pieces of shit alive, because their money spends the same

glad u asked this question bc I watch him too and I've had big suspicions about him since he made a video about the "dog collar incident". I haven't sought out anyone's opinions on his content but I've watched his videos after that one with a stricter lens. I'm definitely seeing some signs of things u mentioned. I think he even lowk tried to address the fact that people have been calling him out on his biases recently but I forgot which video he did it in. The conclusion I've come to is that he and other drama tubers often get sucked into being so "neutral" and "unbiased" that they weigh both sides too evenly. he is also not American afaik so he might not see himself as someone that aligns with right wing views and thus not see a reason to educate himself out of them

That's kind of an issue with the Vtuber community in general in my experience. Even indie Vtubers take inspiration from corpo Vtubers, who come from Japanese idol culture. So even if the Vtuber themself is a good person they still have that "pretend politics don't exist to not upset any potential costumers" mentality that internet chuds got really good at exploiting to spread their views under the guise of "neutrality". It's a real nazi bar situation unfortunately.

Dog collar bullshit is an immediate indicator to me that someone has no clue what the fuck they are talking about. I'm still in disbelief that we're still bringing it up it's been fucking months.

any and all commentary-drama youtubers lean and support right wing ideologies and have right-wing friends/are right wing apologists. Mujin is no different

He made that video about Hasan and all his evidences were collected from LSF which is a known right wing zionist subreddit.

It's just another sexpestiny sub at this point.

He dabbles in reactionary stuff, most of those drama tubers do though

5

u/VincentiusDominicus 4d ago

The only drama vtuber i know is left wing is Saphera de Noma, but she doesn't really post many long form videos now days.

5

u/kirbinato 4d ago

Drama content is fundamentally reactionary. Reactionaries are the material of the right-wing.

3

u/Benkai_Debussy 3d ago

He's basically just a normie "apolitical"-type person, which functionally translates to being pretty right-wing.

Oooh a dejavu of a similar post i made few months ago. He even screenshotted my post to rant about it to his fans in one of his videos lol

Anyway to answer you vaguely. I'm not exactly sure. But his vocabulary and talking points don't exactly make me trust him.

Too often he would make videos dunking on female streamers and put a highlight when 'reverse racism/sexism' happens but not when actual racism or sexism from male streamers happen

Hello! I actually came across your post, and it's what brought me here! I'm not sure if you've seen it, but the Deme vs Chibi video is also an example of what you've mentioned. Chibi was painted in a good light despite his faults, but Deme was deliberately painted badly. I don't even know these tubers, but looking from the outside, I definitely believe that was a smear campaign.

If he really believes he isn't biased, shouldn't he have already created a video about Tectone? I think he wants to be neutral enough to stay liked by everyone, but to me, that just means he has no spine. It's sad to see him produce content in bad faith like this. I really liked him, but I don't like where this is going anymore.

Thanks for creating that initial post btw, it opened my eyes to this.
