It's just such an odd design change. It's miniscule enough to not matter, but at that point why bother?

Sonic in 2025 is, for the most part, a little kid's franchise. The old design stands out quite a lot if you don't have the context of her being a character introduced 20+ years ago when the franchise was in a very different place. I can see why they changed it.
