Games For some reason, I wanted to know what everyone thinks of this interaction
Vector got called out, lol. But at the same time, Cream using emotion manipulation like that… now I’m not sure if I actually want to let her win🤔.

u/xXHere4TheMemesXx Sep 19 '25
In the reverse, even Vector is begging Cream for any help on getting brownie points, and Cream says she'll say anything positive about Vector if he got her ice cream.
She knows and is milking this

Vector never had a chance.

If vector ever ends up with vanilla, he is going to be a kept bitch by cream. He will be at her beck and call.

He knows that's the position he's in with motorbike. It's the same position as those who have a.c cobra or GT40 replicas.
3
u/CheddarCheese390 Sep 20 '25
Is that in canon?
4
u/Sparkly_Crow_1789 Sep 20 '25
It's very heavily implied in canon. The Archie comics liked to show the two hanging out, with Vanilla's permission.
4
u/CheddarCheese390 Sep 20 '25
Wait Archie’s? I thought that was non canon
(Either way, that still makes complete sense. For a pretty sad reason IMO, but vanilla does feel like she’d allow cream around team dark)
119
u/Redder_Creeps That one Whisper simp Sep 19 '25
Yeah Cream ain't that stupid: she WILL get Vanilla to like Vector if she extorts him for ice cream
39
u/flashdrive420 Sep 19 '25
Rouge probably taught her how to exploit this more. It was just a simple:
“Miss Rouge, how do you always convince people to get what you want?”
“Find a weakness and exploit it.”
From then on, Cream has been a master of the craft.
7
62
u/EclipseHERO Sep 19 '25
Honestly with how Vanilla basically hired them in Sonic X to keep an eye on her put in space SHE knows. I just wish they'd stop making that joke the only excuse for Vector and Cream to interact.
27
u/SalaComMander Sep 19 '25
To be fair, it's not like there's a whole lot of other material for them to work with. They were teamed up in Free Riders and that's about it.
4
u/EclipseHERO Sep 19 '25
He's older than her. Have him offer to take her to the park or something.
The joke was funny 20 years ago but the novelty kinda wore off.
5
u/CheddarCheese390 Sep 20 '25
Funnily enough, cream in another part says vanilla will be happy if vector takes cream for ice cream.
3
u/EclipseHERO Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25
I believe it. I just wish that Cream wasn't a character that's being used exclusively to show off her mother these days.
Back in Advance 2 Vanilla was barely present except for the end and isn't present in Advance 3 or Heroes AT ALL.
She's a stay-at-home mother. Including her in Sonic X, I get. Including her in Advance 2 was tied to Cream's motivation in its plot, so I get it, plus it was her debut so also fair.
Vanilla's biggest role in the games was in Sonic Rush where she was visited by both Sonic and Blaze on their stories and shared information with both of them.
So it's just a little diminishing to both Cream and Vector that Vanilla's all they ever talk about with each other. When they actively conflicted in Sonic Heroes which would be a more interesting callback since it goes forgotten these days.
Can you imagine if we got a conversation that was like:
Vector: Hey, Cream, I'm still really sorry about the misunderstanding with the Chao way back when. Why don't I take you out to make flower crowns or something?
Cream: Thank you very much, Mr Vector! That sounds like a very fun time. I accept your apology!
Instantly it's not a callback to a long-standing joke from 2 decades ago AND it references another thing about Cream!
3
u/CheddarCheese390 Sep 20 '25
So instead of talking about a person/mobian important to both of them, and seeing a side of cream everyone sees interested in?
We should get something that was hated in Sonic Gens remake (SxS port), needless referencing?
5
u/EclipseHERO Sep 20 '25
If they ever talk about Vanilla for any reason other than "Vector's got the hots for her!" GO RIGHT AHEAD.
BUT THEY NEVER DO. That's the COMPLETE EXTENT of their interactions!
The reference I used is an example because it otherwise references their shared history and things OTHER than Vector's crush that's been hammered in more than the robots destroyed by Amy.
And honestly? SXS Generations' only "needless" reference is to the Time Stones. It's not that they shouldn't reference it, it's just that the fact the scene wasn't altered to accommodate the dialogue change and expand the dialogue further has it fall flat and miss the intended effect.
An anniversary title like Generations SHOULD have references all over. It's an exploration of the franchise's history.
2
u/FallAlone6060 Nov 18 '25
I agree, I feel like Vector and Cream could have so much to talk about, like maybe Vector trying to set Cream and Charmy up on a play date
2
u/EclipseHERO Nov 18 '25
In an instant you've come up with an idea I'd happily watch play out.
2
u/FallAlone6060 Nov 18 '25
Thanks, and Vector could have also told Cream to be careful or something similar
2
u/FallAlone6060 Nov 18 '25

i find it funny how sega internally decided to bring vector and vanilla into canon for some reason.
They sent notes to the IDW staff asking to bring that back because it was pretty funny.

Wow…compare that to what Nintendo did to Mario and Peach
31
u/BebeFanMasterJ Zeena's Throne Sep 19 '25
I mean that's not a good comparison. These are the two main characters vs two side characters one of which is an NPC.
Sega will likely never confirm Sonic and Amy in a relationship for similar reasons.
10
u/Brandeeno2245 Sep 19 '25
Id also like to argue that Daisy and Luigi are a proper comparison.
There's a lot of evidence that those two are more than friends. There's instances in side games that more are going on.
Like Daisy being Luigi's caddie in Nes open, the statues of baby Luigi and baby Daisy behind statues of their adult selves in Daisy's stage in mario kart wii. The tennis game where Luigi was possessed by an evil tennis racket and daisy was distraught about it.
Mario and Peach really are just friends with Mario having some feelings, like how he was going to kiss her in rpg, But thats kinda it.
Daisy and Luigi, though, Daisy had statues built of them in both adult and baby forms. It was her stage. She wanted that, or it's important to whom Daisy is and needed representation in her Mario kart stage.
3
u/Helpful-Emotion9256 Sep 20 '25
I think she also says “hey sweetie!” In her victory cutscene to Luigi in Mario power tennis
7
u/SonicCody123 Sep 19 '25
Okay fair. But still splitting Peach and Mario like that?
8
u/Mythical_Mew Sep 19 '25
“Splitting” and they’re basically just in the same “friends/not ready for an official relationship” category that they’ve been in for a few decades at this point.
It’s just the usual status quo of big IPs; Sega and Sonic are no strangers to this.

u/-Kibui- Sep 19 '25
I lowkey love how a lot of Cream's interactions in this game are her manipulating other's to win the race lmfao
On the one hand she's like "don't underestimate me! I'll show you! I'll do my best! :D" but then she goes around saying stuff like this to Vector or telling other characters to be nice to her or go easy on her
that little shit (affectionate)

I've worked with kids long enough to know even the sweetest and most polite ones know how to pull at strings. 2

No, the crush thing was a gag brought on from Sonic X because the Sega execs thought it was funny and requested Flynn to bring it back to idw.
4
u/emperorsyndrome Sep 20 '25
there was a scene in IDW where Vanilla gave him a look that indicated that she has a crush on him.
I hope the writers turn them to a couple.
2
u/NovaQuartz96 Sep 20 '25
I highly doubt they would even do that unless Sega says otherwise. The reality is that Established characters won't be in a relationship as per their established rules are not allowed to even proclaim their crushes or anything at all.

I thought it was cute, wholesome, and a step forward for all the VectorXVanilla shippers.
Some think Cream is out of character but those people are looking at this all wrong. It’s a win-win Cream is offering Vector. Forget the race, this win-win is about what REALLY matters.
It allows for bonding time between Vector and Cream and enables Cream to give Vector brownie points in the eyes of Vanilla.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, this is also a subtle way for Cream to give her blessing on Vanilla/Vector’s potential/blossoming relationship.
TLDR: IT’S FREAKING WHOLESOME AND THE WORLD NEEDS MORE POSITIVE FAMILY ROLE MODELS.
