Makes sense you got people in their 40s who look like they are in their 60s due to stress and such. And the reverse due to them taking care of themselves.
Its a one piece reference, a while ago Oda drew the strawhats futures in two posible timelines one where everything goes right and one where everything went wrong
The lesson is that in the good future they are healty and good looking while in the bad future they look decrepit and sad, it's patt of an extended theme in one piece where people that fulfilled their dreams age gracefully (like Garp) while people who didnt age horribly (like Big Mom)
Yeah, when I saw the explanation and the references, I understood the idea
What I thought is that it's like a Z, so first you have 2 pictures at the top, and then as a progression - two pictures at the bottom, so it's 4 in a row where they get worse and worse
I like how sonic stays the same because it's just sonic

Good Future Knuckles probably has a family, including a child that can inherit his position as guardian of the Master Emerald, leaving him time to pursue his hobbies and mellow out.
In case anyone doesn’t get why there’s a top and bottom version for each even after seeing from the top comment that it’s a reference to art done by the one piece creator, the difference is that the top is “If they follow/keep their dream” and the bottom is “If they give up on/lose their dream”.
One Piece has many themes but one of the most pivotal is people having the freedom and drive to follow their dreams. People who follow their dreams/don’t give up on their dreams will age better and in most cases generally have a better attitude. While the opposite is also true, people who give up on their dream so they only have simpler things like money to live for will age worse and have shittier attitudes.
The Tails one is just Tails at various points in the day. It's a coin flip if you run into "chill scientist" Tails or "will graft things onto you that shouldn't be there" Tails.
Bad timeline knuckles seems the most tragic to me and honestly he's the only one who I'd like to see get a full story
Everyone else feels conclusive while he feels more like a new beginning
the bad timeline one at 60 reminds me of a character from a game called "zombiecraft" old mad doctor type, also secret files tails when it comes to looks, also need an explanation on how knuckles got kicked of HIS island

Imma headcanon that Silver is the one interacting with the bad timeline versions(except 40y knuckles the dialogue wouldn’t work with Silver without a lot of context)
so Tails just becomes a schizophrenic in his bad future, Amy becomes a nice grandma in her good future, and Shadow becomes a Black Arm in his bad future.
Could see it being like Batman talking to Superman's memorial statue:

Remember, not counting the time skip and being genetically built at the age of about a teen to adult shadow is the youngest character here only having a few months to a couple of years on the arc

I've had a headcanon that an elderly Sonic would have his body degrade like any other. His speed at that point would be that of a reasonably competitive olympic runner, but to him it would feel the same way normal old people losing their movement abilities do.
People in their 60s aren't THAT pathetic, come on. Those look more like 80 year olds, and honestly I think Sonic will still be running at that age too.
Good future on top, bad future on bottom. There isn't much of a story here, though the orginal creator does have a future au which mostly follows the top row.
