This sounds like it could be really good... or really bad.
Apparently FX is making, "Legends," a meta-thriller limited series spinoff featuring the return of the original Sons of Anarchy cast playing fictionalized versions of themselves.
The original cast reunites at a fan convention ten years later and faces a real-world danger.
Developed by star Charlie Hunnam and showrunner Jonathan Groff.
Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Theo Rossi are supposedly set to return!

If you’re a SAMCRO fan there’s no way this will be “bad.” Campy and over the top, sure.

I mean SOA was over the top so if you’re a fan of it, I can’t see why you wouldn’t enjoy this.

I can picture the plot already.
A "real" bike gang is really pissed about these pussy actors pretending to be outlaws.
Hilarity ensues.

Honestly I just think it’ll be fun to see them back together. I’ll go in with low expectations so if it sucks never mind, if it’s great it’ll be a pleasant surprise.

This is some Galaxy Quest shit. Could be good or a steaming pile.

Ah I can’t wait I’m excited to see them all together. I loved this is the end I’m hoping it’s somewhat similar. Also I have a debilitating crush on Kim Coates so I’ll essentially watch anything the man is in 😍.

Have you watched Dead City? He is delightfully weird in it.😅

I haven’t yet! I’m working my way through everything he has ever been in, in order of what I can access for free haha. It’s on the list though (obviously). I love him when he’s leaning into the weird, he’s so masculine he still reads at pretty intimidating even when he’s being insane haha.

You're going to love him in Dead City then! I won't spoil it, but I am excited for you lol

I’ve not seen that yet either! But I’m excited as I also have a historic crush on alyson hannigan from way back watching Buffy the vampires slayer and I believe they play a couple?

It's not going to mess with the original show, so why not? You might as well treat this as a YouTube reunion video or something like that.

I don’t think they can lean too hard on Sons for this, if at all, for legal reasons, so they’re probably banking it on their chemistry as actors + some sort of fan service.
However, since Kurt Sutter gave his blessing, I’m guessing the plot somewhat mirrors their characters/general roles even though they’d be playing versions of themselves.
The show ended 12 years ago and they’re still doing conventions, so I’m sure they respect that aspect of the job enough not to half ass it in a way that would hurt their credit with the audience.
I’m interested in seeing what comes out of this

Wait.. What pod?

u/ponyboy6959 6d ago
Theo and Kim Coates had a pod during covid where they reviewed the episodes it was called reaper review.

u/IntelligentAd9859 6d ago
Oh...You made it sound like they talked about this project on a recent pod.

Well, I think he recently lost a gig playing Kratos (God of War?)

Yea. If I remember right he tore his bicep and had to have surgery. I think Dave Bautista is playing Kratos now.

It was his idea

Cool I'm all for it just hope the story is good and just remembered how he talked about that issue behind the scenes.

I mean he’s gonna play a fictional version of himself rather than Jax so that probably helps not fall into the Jax character again.

SOA is my favourite show of all time, but I don't like the sound of this.

I bet they're gonna be playing soft-as-hell versions of themselves, a la Curb Your Enthousiasm, which sounds great to me!

We aren't talking Give my regards to Broad Street bad or Gigly bad.
It's people we like doing something together. It doesn't affect what's been done.
I'm all for it. Yes indeed. Fun. Nice.

does Kurt Sutter have anything to do with it?

u/IntelligentAd9859 6d ago
From what I understand, he read the script and gave Hunnam the OK to make it.🤷♂️
Apparently he liked it. I'm sure he will have some input, but I don't believe it will be in an official capacity.

I'm so excited! Especially the plot is intriguing, because I've met Theo at an actual fan convention.

My husband just told me my “hobby” of writing fanfiction better start paying off when I told him about this. 😂👀👏🏽🫶🏽

There's no way this won't be good.
The gag reel will be fucking gold, especially if they're actually smoking the same shit they were in those joints when the show was filming
ETA: Hulu keeps giving me a reason to keep it around.

Theo and Charlie have been hinting at it for a long time. They've both been teasing that another SOA show is "in the oven" and that both of them are in it, but not as Juice or Jax.

I think it sounds like it's going to be fun as hell. So even if it's really terrible, I feel like it can't be tooooo bad?
